Procurement Specialist

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Procurement Specialist to join our client and support the organization with critical sourcing initiatives. In this role, you will oversee the strategic procurement of direct materials, build strong supplier relationships, and ensure that internal stakeholders have what they need to drive success. Working closely with our production, engineering, and quality teams, you'll play a key part in optimizing costs, mitigating risks, and driving value across the supply chain.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and implement strategic sourcing projects for assigned categories of direct materials.
  • Evaluate spend data, market trends, and supplier performance to identify cost-saving opportunities, minimize risks, and maximize added value.
  • Develop, negotiate, and manage supplier contracts in alignment with company policies and goals.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (production, engineering, quality, etc.) to understand organizational needs and deliver sourcing solutions that meet those requirements.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure consistent performance, quality, and reliability.
  • Oversee operational purchasing tasks, such as creating and managing purchase orders, expediting deliveries, and resolving invoice or delivery discrepancies.
  • Work with planning and production teams to monitor and maintain inventory at optimal levels.
  • Lead and support initiatives to enhance procurement processes, systems, and policies for continuous improvement.
Qualifications & Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or a related discipline.
  • Professional procurement/supply chain designation (e.g., CPSM, SCMP) is a strong asset.
  • 5 or more years of experience in strategic sourcing and purchasing, ideally in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems; SAP, Power BI and MS Office
  • Familiarity with technical specifications and drawings is an advantage.
