Purpose of Role:
You will have an important responsibility to work with internal parties to procure goods and services in a cost-effective manner and to ensure proper controls are in place to safeguard materiel within NETE Montreal (LaSalle) and when it is being moved to other geographic locations.
Key Responsibilities:
You will be working within a unique and challenging environment where we conduct test and evaluation (T&E) and independent verification and validation of naval equipment and systems for the Royal Canadian Navy. This role requires a broad knowledge of procurement and logistics, initiative and excellent communication skills to ensure that all relevant policies and regulations are followed and the organization\xe2\x80\x99s technical, cost and schedule goals are met.
Process purchase requisitions, which includes; Validating requirements and information, identify suppliers, obtaining and analyzing quotes, and issuing PO once approvals are obtained;
Proactive monitoring of delivery times and escalating if necessary;
Communicating possible issues such; lack of availability or late deliveries to internal customers;
Work with internal stakeholders to identify alternate suppliers or equipment that meet the technical requirements for the item or service to be procured;
Negotiate prices and terms with suppliers;
Support logistic and inventory management activities;
Contribute to process improvement and lean initiatives related to procurement, logistics and inventory management;
Build and maintain good relationships with suppliers; and,
Safety First: Demonstrate 100% commitment to our zero harm behaviors in support of our drive towards developing a world class safety culture - Uphold and promote the SHE guidelines of the Weir Zero Harm safety policy
Job Knowledge/Education and Qualifications:
Any equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered for candidates that have the ability to perform the objectives above.
Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in a business-related area or DEC in Administration or Supply Management, (or equivalent)
Three (3) to Five (5) years or more of relevant work experience
Fluent in French and English (verbal and written).
Analytical and negotiating skills
Good communication skills
Ability to work autonomously and manage multiple priorities
Demonstrate good organizational skills and the ability to adapt to change
