What we offer

The Procurement Manager is accountable for the procurement and delivery of products/service while focused on achieving the optimal balance of high-quality products & workmanship with timely service at a cost-effective price to enable Mattamy Homes to provide the Best Homeowner Experience. The successful incumbent will receive direct coaching, development, and stretch opportunities from the Vice President, Procurement with a view to long-term career growth.

What you\'ll do

  • Establish, develop, and maintain a portfolio of approved trade partners/suppliers that have the capacity to provide the best products, services, and support to meet Mattamy\'s current and future construction needs. Solicit feedback from onsite construction and warranty teams to continuously monitor the trade partner/supplier performance.
  • Establish budgets and proformas, with input from appropriate internal departments, to quantify expected construction costs for upcoming planned communities. Track and manage actual cost to budget, mitigating risks to unplanned costs and/or schedule delays.
  • Solicit bids and quotes from approved trade partners/suppliers based on price, quality, service, support, and available capacity and participate in the review, development, and analysis of the scopes of work aimed at quality control and standardization of equipment, materials, supplies, and services.
  • Working with the Construction and Warranty teams, evaluate bids and award contracts for scopes of work based on the trade partner/supplier\'s price, performance, and available capacity to deliver on Mattamy\'s construction needs.
  • Working with the other functional teams (such as Architecture, Construction, Sales & Marketing\xe2\x80\xa6etc.), develop product/service supply strategies that align with the Division\'s strategic objectives by researching new potential sources, developing incumbent trade partners/suppliers.
  • Lead a team of Procurement Specialists, providing guidance and mentoring, well defined objectives with measurable targets, and a career development plan. Inspire high levels of engagement, trust, and open communication.
  • Maintain strong subject matter expertise and relationships with the Construction teams and with the approved trade partners/suppliers by conducting regular visits to the applicable construction sites and/or trade partner/supplier\'s facilities to address concerns, explore opportunities, and build strong partnerships.
  • Project/Program manage all team efforts and coordinate with other functional areas within the Division to achieve construction schedules and Divisional targets.
What you bring
  • Post-secondary education and suitable work experience in the construction field.
  • Five or more years of progressive experience in the construction industry, estimating and purchasing.
  • Prior experience in preparing and analyzing budgets.
  • Professional experience dealing ethically with people/situations/issues and ability to demonstrate what processes are applied in decision-making which reflect professionalism and integrity.
  • Solid understanding of generally accepted purchasing principles and practices.
  • Working knowledge of construction material purchasing.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written & verbal conducted in a highly professional manner.
  • Excellent negotiation skills and knowledge of best practices.
  • Excellent mathematical skills with the ability to analyze, look for trends and superior estimating skills.
  • Experience in computerized environment for production planning, ordering, analysis etc.
  • Superior computer skills in MS Office - in particular Excel.
  • Extremely well-organized, flexible, ability to prioritize workloads, meet deadlines and work well under pressure.
  • Understanding of the OBC, WSIB and Health & Safety regulations.

  • Prior experience working in the residential industry
  • Experience working in JDE is a strong asset.
