Job Summary:
The Procurement Coordinator is responsible for the purchasing activities for all production related materials and finished goods. The Procurement Coordinator will participate as a member of the operations team and take on an active role in ensuring the smooth flow of materials and goods from production to warehousing.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Work with new and existing vendors to order raw materials, packaging materials, arrange freight, and manage all necessary purchases required by different departments.
• Manage day to day purchasing activities, issue POs, and ensure all inventory, pricing, and incoming shipments are up to date and well organized.
• Source quality ingredients and packaging materials as requested by R&D which meets or exceeds the company's benchmark.
• Assist in Product recall and product tracing exercise/mock recall.
• Coordinate the replenishment of production related materials and other administrative purchases.
• Maintains the inventory management system and ensures all ingredients, packaging materials, and finished goods are accurately managed and tracked.
• Provides aged inventory reports and identifies slow moving SKU's.
• Performs month end inventory count of inventoried materials in stock and investigates inventory variances.
• Conduct periodic audits of orders and receipts including locations audits to preserve the integrity of the Inventory management system.
• Maintains strict adherence with WorkSafe BC regulations and Company safety policies.
• Coordinate and manage all inbound and outbound shipments to ensure smooth operation.
• Coordinate with carriers on shipments, track pick up and deliveries, and ensure OTIF target is met.
• Ensure all customs paperwork is up to date for cross-border shipments.
• Performs other duties as required and/or assigned.
• Act as a backup; coverage for related duties while Office Administrator is unavailable.
Desired Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
• Post-secondary education in Logistics/Operations Management.
• Minimum 2 years' experience in an inventory/purchasing role.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; collaborative and encouraging approach.
• Strong analytical skills and numerical aptitude.
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Can interact and work effectively with other departments.
• Self-motivated; is accountable and takes ownership of the role.
• Takes initiative and brings forth ideas for improvement.
• Can handle multiple tasks while completing priorities and deadlines, following up consistently.
• Intermediate computer knowledge - using Microsoft applications (Outlook, Excel).
• Experience using an ERP system or Sales related data entry system is required.
