Primary Function: Assists and or coordinates preparation of construction procurement and purchasing activities including reviewing drawings and drafting of bid documents scopes of work based on experience; Solicits pricing from the subcontractors and is involved in closing of tender. Key Responsibilities: 1. Procurement assistant: Drawing orders, uploading documents to smartbid. Maintaining smartbid. Maintaining up to date records of current project documents, sending out and following up with bidders to ensure they have received invites, documents, are closing the project or have any RFI\xe2\x80\x99s. Sub meeting minutes and recording and distribution. 2. Risk Management: Upon the review and coordination of drawings and specifications, proactively identifying laps and gaps in both coordination and constructability with recommended solutions. Promptly escalates all issues, questions, and concerns to the Procurement Manager. 3. Budgeting & Costing: Assists with the preparation of tender schedule budgets and provides ongoing updated as tenders close and awards are made. 4. Maintain accurate records of procurement and contracting activities, including subcontractor and supplier information. Leadership & Relationship Management: 1. Networking: Establishes and maintains a professional network of key contacts and sub- contractors. Assists sub-contractors with tender RFI\xe2\x80\x99s and is responsive to trade questions and concerns in order to continue to foster key relationships. 2. Excellent Oral & Written Communication Skills: Is able to both effectively present ideas to others, as well as compose clear and concise communication, which delivers the message and is clearly understood. Job Knowledge & Technical Skills: 1. Construction Methods & Practices: knowledge of construction practices, materials and methods. Understanding of how subcontractors bid projects based on knowledge of scope of work for all 16 divisions. Ability to assist with scope drafting, bid leveling and bid review meetings. 2. Contracts, Drawings & Specifications: Ability to understand and interpret contract documents, project drawings, and specifications as they relate to Eastern, the client and all subcontractors including scope of work, exclusions, clauses, and limitations. A strong understanding of how to incorporate addenda into existing document sets. 3. Computer Skills: Ability to proficiently use Microsoft Office, Knowledge of other related software such as smartbid, Viewpoint, Navisworks (or equivalent), AutoCAD or Revit will be considered as an asset. Initiative & Self-Management: 1. Organization & Time Management: Maintain files and documentation in a highly organized manner. Ability to react to changing priorities with a sense of urgency in order to meet project deadlines. 2. Accuracy & Attention to Detail: Ensures a high level of accuracy and pays close attention to detail when assisting in scope writing and tender analysis; ensuring all sections have been thoroughly reviewed and accounted for. Education, Experience & Skills: 1. Education: University Degree or College Diploma in Civil Engineering, Engineering Technology/Architecture or Construction Management 2. Experience: Recent graduate from college and/or university WORKING CONDITIONS: 1. Work Location: Head Office (GTA) Travel to Project Site, Meetings and Site Visits as required. What we provide: 1.
