Located in Toronto, the Art Gallery of Ontario ("the AGO") is one of the largest art museums in North America, with a collection of close to 100,000 works. Through the collection as well as collaborations with leading museums around the world, the AGO presents wide-ranging exhibitions and programs to approximately 1 million visitors annually.

We are currently seeking a Regular Part-Time, Processing Archivist to join our Library Administration team. Under the direction of the Rosamond Ivey Special Archivist & Head, Library & Archives, the incumbent will perform a range of duties relating to the coordination, growth and use of the institutional archives and Special Collections in all media, including archival processing, liaising with records creators, and ingest of digital archival collections. Supports the department's public service by responding to research requests and monitoring research visits.

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications, skills, and experience.
  • Post-secondary certificate in archival studies.
  • An undergraduate degree in visual arts and/or history.
  • Directly related experience in the archives of a museum or other not-for-profit institution is an asset.
  • Working knowledge of general principles and practices in the field of museum archives.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of automated databases in a museum, archival, and/or library environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of systems and current standards used for cataloguing archival material.
  • Working knowledge of FIPPA, PIPEDA and copyright legislation.
  • Working knowledge of the care, handing and correct storage of archival material.
