Operations include a main production facility in Truro, Nova Scotia as well as four retail locations in Stewiacke, Dartmouth, Antigonish, and Truro, totaling over 100 employees throughout. YOUR ROLE


We are seeking a skilled and hands-on Process Technician to support our production facility through technical troubleshooting, process optimization, and preventative maintenance. This role will focus on automation systems, PLCs, robotics, and production equipment including product blending & mixing equipment, bottling line, canning line, and warehouse operations. The Process Technician will also play a key role in new equipment installations, SOP creation under LEAN methodologies, and continuous improvement initiatives.


Working closely with the Director of Engineering and Construction and supported by the Production Engineer, this role bridges hands-on technical execution with structured process improvement, ensuring equipment safety, reliability, and efficiency.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES


Collaboration & CommunicationWork closely with the Director of Engineering and Construction to align daily priorities with departmental goals. Partner with the Production Engineer, internal teams, and external vendors during equipment installs, upgrades, and troubleshooting. Provide clear documentation, feedback, and recommendations to leadership.


Continuous ImprovementIdentify process inefficiencies and recommend improvements to enhance throughput, quality, and safety. Collaborate with the Production Engineer to design and implement sustainable process improvements. Support process creation and optimization for new production lines or equipment.


Process Development & SOPsDevelop and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for equipment operation and maintenance. Apply LEAN methodologies to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and standardize workflows. Support 5S infrastructure, and housekeeping initiatives to maintain a safe, organized, and efficient workplace.


Equipment & Automation SupportTroubleshoot, repair, and optimize PLCs, robotics, various types of filling & packaging machines, and automated systems. Support new equipment installations, commissioning, and integration into production lines. Perform hands-on maintenance and adjustments on product blending & mixing equipment, bottling and canning lines, and warehouse systems.


Preventative MaintenanceIdentify & execute preventative maintenance tasks to ensure maximum uptime and reliability of production equipment. Document and track maintenance activities in alignment with facility standards. Identify recurring issues and recommend long-term solutions.

QUALIFICATIONS

Industrial electrician, millwright, engineering technologist, or similar technical education or training. Hands-on experience with PLC troubleshooting, robotics, precise mechanical machines, and automated Food & Beverage production systems. Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude with ability to work across multiple systems. Knowledge of LEAN, 5S, and process improvement methodologies. Proven ability to create SOPs and implement structured processes. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and commitment to high-quality work. Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications considered a strong asset:+ - Experience/Familiarity with PLCs - Experience/Familiarity maintenance tracking systems.
- Familiarity with industrial safety standards and compliance requirements.
- Exposure to food/beverage or high-speed packaging environments.
