Position Title:Mechanical Process Safety EngineerPay Rate:$84,800 - $113,100Multiple factors, including Individual experience, skills and abilities will determine where an employee is ultimately placed in the pay range.Category/Shift:Salaried Full-TimePhysical Location:International Paper Grande Prairie Pulp Mill53024A Resources RoadCounty of Grande Prairie No.1Directions: Travel 12 kms south of Grande Prairie on Resources Road.The Job You Will Perform:

  • Provide technical support for site change improvements ensuring compliance with safety, legal, regulatory and technology standards
  • Review and approve site management of change requests
  • Ensure plant flow sheets (P&ID\'s) are current and available
  • Ensure process safety studies are current and available
  • Support site process safety management program (PSM) owner
  • Manage team process safety engineering procedures and documentation systems
  • Provide backup coverage for the mill engineering document controller
  • Review and size process safety equipment (process safety valves etc.)
  • Provide technical support for the pulp mill
  • Provide design support and lead projects as needed
  • Comply with all safety standards and meet all legal requirements
  • Comply with all mechanical/process safety engineering standards
  • Prepare process safety design notes, calculations, and specifications.
  • Work with other disciplines and project engineers to support with risk management and hazard analysis activities
  • Participate in design reviews.
  • Coordinate with regional engineering office and multidisciplinary teams on process safety initiatives
  • Prepare data sheets, specifications, and RFPs for process safety equipment
  • Work with procurement personnel to purchase and expedite process safety equipment
  • Review vendor drawings and documentation.
The Skills You Will Bring:
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or other related engineering discipline. 5-10 years of experience. Registered Engineer in Training or Professional Engineer with APEGA. Ability to stamp process safety documentation as P.Eng or working towards P.Eng status.
  • Previous Process Safety Engineering experience
  • Knowledge of ASME piping codes, B31.1 and B31.3 and Boiler Pressure Vessel codes. Familiar with Alberta Boilers Branch standards and design registration process
  • Experience using AutoCAD, Solidworks and SAP.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and proven ability to collaborate with team members in a multi-disciplined environment;
  • Technical competence and strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in an industrial environment and familiar with the pulp and paper industry
  • Facilitate Planning and Coordinating Maintenance Outages, Priority Setting, Conflict Management, Building Effective Teams, Problem Solving, Meeting Budgets
