Do you have a passion for plant operations? We are hiring a process operator for our Syncrude Mildred Lake site in Fort McMurray.

In this role, you will perform the duties associated with safe and efficient operation within the Energy and Utilities - Water Treatment and Cooling area.

Minimum Requirements:

  • ABSA 3rd Class or 2nd Class power engineering certificate required
  • Operating experience in Steam turbines, Centrifugal pumps, Deaerators and Boiler feedwater pumps, Cooling towers, Heat exchangers, Large water piping systems, Potable Water Plants, Domestic Waste Water systems, Water Clarifiers/Gravity Filters/Reverse Osmosis, Ion Exchange Demineralizer trains preferred
  • Must be able to operate large valves when required
  • Must have strong mechanical aptitude to allow hands-on operation of plant equipment with minimal supervision
  • Potable water or Domestic Waste Water qualifications considered an asset
  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
  • Possess a valid driver\xe2\x80\x99s license and a clean driving record
Responsibilities:
  • Operate the equipment in a safe, efficient manner according to established practices, procedures and operating guidelines
  • Start-up, shutdown and Isolate equipment for maintenance activities
  • Perform operator care rounds and routines. Enter work notifications for all deficiencies requiring maintenance support
  • Monitor and adjust equipment and process variables to maintain a safe, efficient and environmentally sound operation and to ensure product quality
  • Enter quality shift logs at the end of each shift and perform quality shift handover with incoming shift
  • Learn and adhere to management systems
  • Train and become qualified on multiple posts in a reasonable timeframe
Location and other Key Details:
  • You will work out of our Syncrude Mildred Lake site in Fort McMurray
  • The shift schedule is six days on/six days off rotation (three days on, three nights on, six days off; 12-hour shifts)
  • This position is safety sensitive
  • You will be required to perform some heavy lifting, use ladders and work on elevated work sites such as scaffolds and towers with the ability to perform in a variety of different environments, both indoor and outdoor, as well as within confined spaces
  • Your primary residence must be within 60 km of Fort McMurray
