Excellence The Role:
In this critical role, the Chemical Process Technologist is a key player on a dynamic team responsible for conducting process development work, small scale engineering runs and support of development operations. The ideal candidate is highly capable in the lab, is hands on, and has a high mechanical aptitude. The individual should exhibit the ability to manage multiple activities in a fast-paced environment focused on safety and quality. Ideally the individual is knowledgeable in chemistry, analytical chemistry and chemical engineering. You must be an independent learner.

The Technologist partners cross-functionally and communicates across groups to support developmental projects in the Toronto, ON facility. In this role you will:

• Determine actions to be taken within the limits of standard or accepted practice.
• Approximately 1/3 of your time will be data entry, SAP entry, etc. on the computer.
• Use your knowledge of proper and safe handling/disposal of chemicals and ability to maintain a clean and safe workspace.
• Use strong independent operation skills and your ability to complete lab work safely.
• Use your strong organizational skills, and attention to detail to meticulously document actions and activities.
• Advance multiple work tasks simultaneously towards successful and timely outcomes.
• Seek continuous improvement.
• Adapt to changing priorities

Traits we believe make a strong candidate:

• BS or MS in synthetic chemistry, chemical engineering, or a related field.
• 1+ years of experience in the chemical manufacturing industry, with scale-up development experience preferred.
• Familiarity with handling air-sensitive materials (i.e., using Schlenk lines and anaerobic glove boxes); Strong experience with both classic and modern bench-scale organo-metallic chemistry synthetic techniques; Experience interpreting analytical results, such as NMR, GC, GC-MS, HPLC, etc.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Prolonged periods of working at the bench/fume hood.
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
