Job Description

The City of Corner Brook is seeking a strategic, organized, and collaborative professional to join our team as a Process Improvement & Purchasing Specialist. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in enhancing operational efficiency, strengthening procurement practices, and supporting strategic initiatives across the organization.

As the Process Improvement & Purchasing Specialist, you will lead cross-departmental initiatives that streamline processes, improve workflows, and promote continuous improvement. You will also support the City's procurement activities--helping departments source goods and services, ensuring compliance with public sector procurement legislation, and maintaining high standards of transparency and value.

In addition, the Specialist will monitor and pursue external funding opportunities, prepare grant applications, and collaborate with internal stakeholders to secure resources that support the City's strategic priorities.

This role is ideal for a motivated professional who enjoys problem-solving, project facilitation, and contributing to organizational excellence.

Post-secondary education in Business Administration, Public Administration, Supply Chain Management, Quality Management, or a related field is required, along with a procurement certification (such as SCM or CPPB) or the willingness to obtain one, and a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification or the willingness to pursue it. Candidates should possess a minimum of three years of experience in process improvement and/or procurement, preferably within a public sector environment. The successful applicant will demonstrate strong project management, facilitation, research, and writing skills, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office and experience using ERP or procurement systems are required, along with a solid understanding of public procurement legislation and continuous

Experience in a municipal, unionized, or broader public sector setting is considered an asset, along with experience preparing or supporting grant applications.
