The Process Engineer is responsible for supporting the set up and maintaining process controls on presses, molds, and equipment to customer specifications. You will be responsible for resolving manufacturing processes & developing new processes for new tooling. Working with Program Managers to ensure customers are content with part quality. You will assist in directing responsibility for process techs activities. You will also be a critical Go To person for all injection molding process activities. What you can expect as our nextProcess Engineer: Optimizes all machine processes by reducing scrap, cycle times and mold change timesAssists with launches of new programs by building a new process to ensure quality products of parts and attends launch meetings prior to production start-up as neededAttend New Model tooling trials as necessary to identify potential production issues prior to running at the plantEnsures operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements, troubleshooting malfunctions, calling for repairs, and evaluating new equipment and techniques.Implement Molding Engineering activities such as scientific molding process development, process monitoring, and tool qualifications.Develop detailed DOE studies and record data for problem resolution and process improvements. If process cant improve the part, recommend tooling suggestions.Work with Tooling team to do a detailed mold evaluation report, make recommendations.Develop process controls/create and record data management and information for Run at Rate/PPAP validations.Experienced with hot runners/valve gate sequencing/2 shot rotary molding/insert molding.Develop management metrics for direct reports which identify proficiencies and skill set development within the various areas such as Senior Set-Up Technician / Junior Set-Up Technician and Material Handling.Support in compliance with Company objectives.Support with all areas related to the Plastic Injection Molding Process, including / Quality, and efficiencies/Automation set-up (basic) and Robot Interface (basic)Assist the Company Plant Standards and 5S system objectives.Ensure staff meet/exceed expectations as required.Travel to customer trials/meetings as required, provide support to our divisions if necessary.Engage and develop strong supplier interface and support systems for proper project support and problem resolution.Ensure Process capability is a key focus and development activity for all processes/projects.Assist and coordinate with Material Handlers proper procedures and methods of material handling procedures with regards to materials, dryers, loaders.Use our Smart Attend Monitoring data to make improvements, troubleshoot and root cause downtime concerns.Provide on the job training to the technical team (Process, Setup & Material handlers).Attend scheduled Shift / changeover meetings and quarterly employee meetings.Assist with SMED activities to improve change over times.Assist Shift Production Supervisor to attain shift\'s performance in safety, product quality, production output, and housekeeping goals.Work closely with maintenance department to address any machine concerns, including barrel/screw issues, machine controls, levelling, etc.Assist in developing work instructions and procedures.Maintain master process sheets, ensure they are up to date & controlled.Perform additional tasks as assigned. Do you have what is takes to be our nextProcess Engineer? Minimum post-secondary diploma in Operations Management or a technical field with 10+ years of related experience and proven performance in a manufacturing environment may be acceptable in lieu of a degree.Minimum 8+ years of hands-on experience in an Injection Plastics Molding environment with in-depth knowledge of plant manufacturing equipment.Knowledge of plastics technology including screws & barrels, molding material delivery systems, temperature control units, grinders, dryers, colour feeders and their applications.Possess in-depth knowledge of Scientific Injection Molding and RJG principals.Understand machine controls, advanced process methods and data properties of materials, associated quality tests and standards to determine root causes of quality defects and effectively trouble-shoot the process.Good understanding of BOMs, manufacturability, process design, process validation, design reviews and cost reduction methodologies.Good communication skills both written and verbal.Must be reliable, responsible, and dependable, and fulfilling obligations.Requires attention to detail and thorough completion of work tasks.Demonstrated knowledge of forklift and crane operation.Experience working in the Automotive industry a definite asset.Knowledge of health and safety practice in a plant environment.Understanding of IATF- 16949 requirements.
