The job
As a
Process Engineer Photonics
, you will develop, optimize, and maintain manufacturing processes for photonic devices and components. You will work with R&D, procurement, quality, and production teams to ensure reliable, scalable, and high-yield processes. The role combines hands-on cleanroom work with analytical problem-solving to drive process improvements.
Tasks & Responsibilities
Develop, optimize, and standardize fabrication and assembly processes for photonic devices.
Implement smart process control strategies to boost yield, quality, and reliability.
Collaborate with R&D to successfully scale prototypes into robust manufacturing processes.
Analyze process data, identify root causes, and translate findings into effective solutions.
Work with equipment engineers to specify, qualify, and maintain advanced production tools.
Document process flows, work instructions, and best practices to ensure knowledge transfer.
Contribute to continuous improvement using Six Sigma, Lean, and SPC methodologies.
We are looking for
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Photonics, or related field.
2+ years of experience in process engineering, ideally in photonics, semiconductor, or microfabrication.
Hands-on experience with cleanroom processes (e.g., lithography, etching, thin-film deposition, bonding, or optical alignment).
Strong problem-solving skills with proficiency in data analysis tools (MATLAB, Python, etc.).
Familiarity with quality systems and process characterization methods (DOE, SPC, FMEA).
Excellent communication and teamwork skills In English and Dutch
Experience with integrated photonics, lasers, detectors, or modulators.
Knowledge of optical testing and characterization techniques.
Background in scaling processes from lab to pilot or volume manufacturing.
