Summary
The Process Engineer - ERP & Operations is responsible for analyzing, designing, and improving Malach's operational systems to enhance productivity, quality, and cost efficiency. This role will lead efforts to optimize and maintain the company's ERP system, establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs), and drive data-driven process improvements across the organization.
Acting as a bridge between engineering, production, and management, this position ensures that operational processes are standardized, measurable, and continuously improved through effective systems, data, and collaboration.
Responsibilities
Design and implement efficient manufacturing processes to improve productivity.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop process documentation and specifications.
Utilize CAD software such as AutoCAD and SolidWorks for process design.
Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for process improvements.
Monitor production metrics and identify areas for continuous improvement.
Ensure compliance with safety regulations and quality standards.
Provide technical support for CNC programming and operation.
Train staff on new processes and technologies as required.
Qualifications
ERP System Optimization
- Lead the setup, configuration, and continuous improvement of the company's ERP system to ensure data accuracy, efficient workflows, and consistent use across departments.
- Collaborate with production, engineering, quality, and scheduling teams to define ERP requirements and standardize data input/output for routing, BOMs, costing, and reporting.
- Support the development of ERP-driven tools and dashboards to improve visibility into performance, scheduling, and resource utilization.
- Provide training and guidance to end users on ERP processes and data best practices.
Metrics & Performance Management
- Define, develop, and maintain company-wide metrics and KPIs for productivity, quality, delivery, and cost.
- Implement tracking systems and visual management tools (e.g., Excel, Power BI, ERP dashboards) to monitor performance trends and drive accountability.
- Prepare and present data-driven reports to leadership, highlighting insights and opportunities for improvement.
- Ensure KPI data integrity through standardized reporting methods and consistent data validation.
Process Analysis & Continuous Improvement
- Map and evaluate production workflows to identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and waste.
- Support automation initiatives, equipment selection, and implementation of new technologies.
- Develop and implement process improvements using Lean, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Standardize work procedures and documentation for repeatable and scalable operations.
- Lead root cause analyses for process issues and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Collaborate with teams to improve plant layout, material flow, and workstation design for optimal efficiency.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Engineering, Quality, and Production teams to align design intent with manufacturability.
- Work closely with IT and scheduling teams to improve data-driven planning, material flow, and resource utilization.
- Support new product introductions and engineering changes by defining and validating operational processes.
Documentation & Training
- Create and maintain SOPs, work instructions, and process documentation related to ERP use and production standards.
- Train production and office staff on standardized processes, KPI tracking, and continuous improvement principles.
- Promote a culture of operational excellence, accountability, and data-driven decision-making throughout the organization.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial, Mechanical, or Manufacturing Engineering (or equivalent experience).
- 3+ years of experience in process or manufacturing engineering, preferably within a metal fabrication or machining environment.
- Proven experience with ERP implementation, optimization, or data management within a manufacturing setting.
- Demonstrated success in Lean manufacturing, process improvement, or continuous improvement initiatives.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven mindset.
- Proficiency with process mapping tools, time studies, and efficiency analysis.
- Advanced knowledge of ERP/MRP systems (e.g., JobBOSS, Epicor, Syspro, SAP) and Microsoft Excel; familiarity with data visualization tools such as Power BI is an asset.
- Excellent communication and facilitation skills with the ability to influence across all levels of the organization.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001, quality systems, and EHS best practices is an asset.
