The Opportunity:

We have an exciting opportunity for a Process Engineer to join our team and play a key role in supporting Canadian Natural\xe2\x80\x99s commitments to reducing GHG emissions from operations, and the Pathways Alliance goal of net zero emissions from Oil Sands by 2050! As the successful candidate, you will provide process expertise within a multi-discipline environment for the successful front-end development and execution of Thermal and Conventional Facilities GHG projects. This includes process and economic studies of new and emerging GHG reduction technologies, conducting/leading feasibility studies of carbon capture technologies at thermal and conventional facilities, providing process engineering technical direction/guidance in the FEED engineering of full-scale carbon capture projects.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Conduct technical and economic evaluations of new and novel GHG reduction technologies and clearly articulate the findings.
  • Conduct feasibility level activities and studies for the integration of GHG reduction technologies into existing thermal and conventional assets.
  • Provide process engineering support for GHG reduction projects including pilot scale and full scale deployments at Thermal and Conventional facilities.
  • Provide day-to-day oversight of EP process engineers, technology licensors, and equipment contractors.
  • Support government funding applications for GHG reduction projects.
  • Be aware of, and work according to, applicable guidelines, directives and regulations concerning the Environment, Safety, AER, and the Alberta Boilers Safety Association.
Other Details:
  • Job location: Calgary, Alberta.
  • Shift schedule: 5 days on, 2 days off, Monday to Friday, 8 hours per day.
  • This is a safety sensitive position.
Skills & Qualifications:
  • 15+ years of experience in process engineering in the oil and gas industry.
  • Registered with APEGA, or eligible to register.
  • Proven ability to conduct front end techno-economic and technology feasibility studies.
  • Strong knowledge of carbon capture and GHG reduction technologies are a definite asset.
  • Front-end project development / economics, field experience, experience with medium to large size projects, and developing / managing technology pilot are definite assets, as well as previous experience in thermal heavy oil and / or conventional facilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, organizational and team skills with the ability to work independent are required.
