The Intermediate Process Engineer will assist in developing, implementing, commissioning and starting a new greenfield gas-to-liquids facility. The person will work closely with other engineering team members to ensure that the facility operates efficiently, safely, and in compliance with all relevant regulations.
The individual will support the engineering team from FEED stage all the way to commissioning and start-up. This is a hybrid work environment, with three days in the office and will transition to full-time office-based shortly. Requires refinery type field level work during systems completions, commissioning and start-up of the facility, which will require the physical ability to support these activities.
Key Responsibilities
Support the owner?s engineering team in developing a greenfield gas-to-liquids (GTL) facility.
Interface with the Engineering contractor(s), licensors, and vendors, while representing Cerilon on the project.
Actively participate in design reviews.
Process Design activities during FEED and Detail Engineering, including performing process simulations, design calculations, Process Optimization, sizing & selection of equipment, etc., for Tenders (as required) and awarded purchase orders and contracts.
Review of engineering contractor?s and licensors? documents, drawings, specifications, datasheets, and calculations during FEED and detailed engineering phases.
Preparation of various engineering deliverables (Drawings & Documents) such as Process Flow Diagrams, P&I Diagrams, Process Datasheets, Equipment Specifications, Cause & Effect Diagrams, control philosophies, start-up and shutdown philosophies, HAZOP Studies & reports, Operation & maintenance manuals etc., and providing necessary engineering inputs to the other engineering disciplines as well as business and operations departments.
Support the education and mentoring of junior staff around GTL principles in the future.
Support the development of engineering standards and practices for the project.
Assessment of the process efficiency, effectiveness, safety, and quality.
Conduct process improvement initiatives and custom product developments.
Create clear documentation to support handover from projects to operations.
Perform process safety-related calculations and provide input to HAZOPs, SILs, and other safety reviews as directed.
Participate in strategic planning sessions (technical and business).
Contribute to creating a positive work culture focused on professional development and knowledge transfer within the team.
Qualifications
Bachelor?s Degree in Chemical Engineering.
3+ years of Chemical Engineering experience.
Refinery operating and/or design experience.
Process simulation software experience would be considered an asset.
Registered as a Professional Engineer with APEGA or eligible to register
Good understanding of process design and optimization principles.
Familiarity with process simulation software such as Aspen Plus or HYSYS.
Experience with process troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
Knowledge of relevant regulations and industry standards.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
