BIOVECTRA Inc. is a leading bio-science business in Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia, focused on contract manufacturing and product development of active pharmaceutical ingredients, pharmaceutical intermediates, and bioreagents.

BIOVECTRA Inc. has an opening for a Process Development Senior Scientist, Analytical Services. This is a permanent, full-time position located in Dartmouth, NS.

The candidate will be responsible for:

  • Leading a team of scientists and technicians to provide timely and accurate analytical support for process development projects.
  • Overseeing the development of modern bioanalytical methodologies such as CE-SDS, UV-VIS, cIEF, SDS-PAGE, ELISA, qPCR, MS, Western blot and HPLC for the analysis of biologics.
  • Establishing talent development plans for direct reports through annual goal setting, identifying training opportunities and strategically assigning relevant projects and tasks
  • Assuming a leadership role in project teams ensuring that client and partnership projects are delivered on time with a focus on building collaborative relationships and providing superior customer service
  • Overseeing multiple projects at one time, and being able to easily switch between projects
  • Managing the required analytical support within the PD department and communicating updates to other Senior Scientists, PD management, project managers and clients.
  • Reviewing the laboratory notebooks of their team to ensure work is compliant with company\'s QA Policy and cGMP.
  • Developing modern analytical methodologies using quality by design (QbD) and design of experiments (DoE) methodologies to identify and understand design space and critical instrument parameters
  • Preparation of technical documentation such as development reports, qualification protocols and test methods, to facilitate knowledge transfer to both the PD and Quality Control groups.
The successful candidate for this position should have:
  • B.Sc. in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, or related fields.
  • MSc or PhD considered an asset
  • 4 years analytical experience in similar field
  • Advanced knowledge of UHPLC, LC-MS, qPCR, ELISA, CE and potency assay method development is considered an asset.
  • Experience with analytical chromatography software (empower, Mass lynx, UNIFI, etc) is considered an asset.
