Genius Loci is seeking thoughtful, articulate educators with a strong background in the humanities to join our small team of tutors and editors. Sessions are one-on-one and take place in clients' homes across Greater Vancouver.

Responsibilities

Conduct personalized tutoring sessions in subjects such as English literature, writing, philosophy, and related disciplines Facilitate one-on-one instruction using a learner-centered, inquiry-based approach Cultivate a learning environment that prioritizes epistemic agency and reflective engagement Offer detailed, context-sensitive editorial support for academic, creative, or application-based writing Communicate clearly and professionally with students and families Maintain internal notes on student progress Occasionally contribute to internal resource-building (e.g. reading lists, mini-guides)

Requirements

Minimum MA in a humanities field (English, Philosophy, History, etc.) Experience working with learners in a one-on-one or small-group setting Strong written and verbal communication skills Reliable, self-directed, and ethically grounded Criminal Record Check required for K-12 assignments Editing experience and knowledge of citation styles (MLA, APA) are assets
