Job Description

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY. We are seeking weekend coverage in our private Oakville residence. The position is to cover ALL Saturday and Sunday mornings from 9AM to 2 PM. We are not a facility, we do not hire from agencies, and we only hire locally. This is not a cash job; we pay $25/hour, by paycheque, with all required deductions. You must have your own vehicle and a valid driver's license and have at least 2 covid vaccinations, and be ok around cats.

We are seeking a positive, cheerful dedicated and skilled PSW or Nurse for care in our private home. A quick learner who can manage the physical nature of caring for somebody who cannot move or speak on his own. Experience as a nurse or PSW or relevant caregiver experience is necessary. We require coverage every weekend, and the successful candidate must be reliable and consistent. The patient has advanced ALS, is completely dependent, and can only communicate with eye movement. He understands everything and is perfectly aware mentally. The ideal candidate will have intuition, experience with paralyzed and non-verbal patients, and be a very fast learner. Experience with ALS is a strong asset. The role requires understanding and ability to use medical devices such as Cough Assist, BiPap, and Suction, and g-tubes, and to follow instructions carefully.

We have all necessary equipment and a clean, modern and safe work environment. You will not lift - we have ceiling lifts for transfers.

Hours are Weekends: 9 AM - 2 PM

WAGES: You will receive aT4 @ $25.00 per hour plus 4% vacation pay minus regular payroll deductions (income tax, EI, and CPP). Biweekly paycheque
