YOUR FOCUS



Reporting to the Privacy Officer, the Privacy Specialist supports DataNB's compliance requirements following frameworks such as strategic privacy by design and the Five Safes throughout the data life cycle. This position plays an integral role to the governance framework application for DataNB to ensure legislative compliance and ongoing operation.



Conduct privacy impact assessments on incoming data sets and review of data sharing agreements.

Review Data Access Requests forms for privacy data compliance.

Review of research outputs for privacy protection and risk of harm to data subjects.

Applying Data NB retention schedules

Support the goals and missions of HDRN Canada through project management and oversight for pan-Canadian administrative data privacy initiatives.

Develop data privacy tools and presentations for a wide variety of audiences such as the public, government decision makers and researchers.

Participate in regional and national working groups.

Develop briefing notes, reports etc. as necessary.

Participate in committees related to data access, ethical data practices and legislation compliance and needed.

Other duties as assigned.



WHAT YOU BRING



Masters degree in Information Science, Law, (or related fields).

3 years experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.



Additional Strengths



Privacy advisory and compliance work experience.

Experience with the development and implementation policies, procedures, standards.

Experience working with government partners and relationships building.

Clear understanding of data governance and data life cycle.

Strong written and communication skills.

Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.

Experience in working in an academic and research environment.
