About the Opportunity
Reporting to the Director of Privacy, and indirectly to the Senior Director of Research and the Vice President, Legal, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary, the Privacy Officer - Research is responsible for managing the research privacy stream within NSH, providing expert advice and support to ensure NSH's compliance with applicable legislation, as well as internal research and privacy policy and procedures.
The Privacy Officer - Research serves as the main point of contact for privacy matters within their portfolio. They lead, engage and support the development and implementation of a robust privacy culture at NSH as it impacts or relates to the Research Portfolio, within the Department of Research, including processing consult requests, and supporting the development and delivery of procedures, education and training to promote awareness and understanding of related legislation and NSH processes.
The role of the Privacy Officer - Research is instrumental to fostering a robust privacy culture at NSH that values the need for and importance of balancing protection of personal and personal health information (PI/PHI).
The Privacy Officer - Research will work closely with the Director of Privacy to review and update best practices for the research privacy review process, including risk inquiries, and the development of new forms, policies, and procedures.
This position utilizes a hybrid workplace model that combines working from home with working onsite. Candidates can live and work from anywhere in the zone, with travel required only as necessary.
