Visit us today and check out to see why more people from across the globe are moving here.About the OpportunityReporting to the Privacy Manager, Engagement and Support and indirectly to the Director of Privacy, the Privacy Officer serves as one of the main points of contact for privacy matters within their work stream (Engagement and Support Domain).The Privacy Officer leads, engages and supports the development and implementation of a robust privacy culture through reviewing all activities with privacy implications, developing and providing privacy education sessions, as well as monitoring all services and systems to ensure the Engagement and Support Domain within the Privacy Office are meeting compliance with the Personal Health Information Act (PHIA), as well as NSH\'s privacy policies and practices.About YouWe would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • University undergraduate degree in a related field (e.g., business, public or health administration, computer science, library sciences or information management)
  • Minimum 3 years\' experience working in a healthcare/health information, university, or government agency environment required
  • At least 3 years work experience with interpreting and applying provincial or federal privacy and freedom of information legislation, including PHIA and FOIPOP
  • Canadian certification with the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) such as CIPP/C or an equivalent credential is an asset
  • Experience working directly with patients, clinicians as well as internal, organizational interdisciplinary teams and programs
  • Demonstrated experience providing privacy guidance, developing reference and educational materials, and developing and/or conducting, as well as supporting privacy policy or SOP development
  • Strong analytical, organizational and problem solving skills with the ability to multi-task to meet tight deadlines
  • Demonstrated strong organization, facilitation, communication, and presentation skills
  • Exceptional computer skills, with ability to learn and adapt to different health information systems
  • Demonstrate self-awareness and ability to work collaboratively with internal and external parties of interest
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • A high degree of tact, diplomacy, integrity and impartiality
  • Ability to function independently and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
  • Experience in responding to patient complaints or concerns
