Printing Press Operator Job Summary

The Printing Press Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining printing presses to produce high-quality printed materials. This role plays a crucial part in ensuring that printed materials meet quality standards and are delivered on time. The Printing Press Operator must have a strong attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

This fulltime position is located in Fredericton, NB.

Printing Press Operator Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain 2 color and 6 color Heidelberg printing presses, with the maximum sheet run size of 23x29''
• Operate printing presses and related equipment to produce printed materials such as books, brochures, catalogues, and packaging materials.
• Set up and adjust printing press settings, including the ink flow, speed, and pressure, to achieve the desired print quality.
• Monitor the printing process to ensure that printed materials meet quality standards, such as color accuracy, print alignment, and clarity.
• Troubleshoot and resolve any issues that arise during the printing process, such as paper jams or equipment malfunctions.
• Perform routine maintenance tasks on printing presses, including cleaning, lubricating, and replacing parts as needed.
• Collaborate with the prepress team to ensure that printing plates and other materials are prepared correctly for each print job.
• Maintain inventory of printing supplies, such as ink and paper, and reorder as needed.
• Keep detailed records of each print job, including the number of copies produced, materials used, and any issues encountered.
• Ensure that printed materials are properly packaged and prepared for shipment or delivery to the customer.
• Comply with health and safety regulations and maintain a clean and organized work area.

Printing Press Operator Required Skills

• Proficient operation and maintenance of printing presses and related equipment.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to identify and correct print quality issues.
• Knowledge of color theory and ability to match colors accurately.
• Familiarity with different types of printing materials, such as paper stocks and inks.
• Ability to troubleshoot and resolve equipment malfunctions quickly and efficiently.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple print jobs simultaneously.
• Good understanding of printing processes and ability to read and interpret job specifications.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent time management skills and ability to meet tight deadlines.
• Basic computer skills for operating digital printing and prepress equipment.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience operating printing presses or related equipment.
• Knowledge of printing techniques and processes.
• Ability to lift heavy objects and stand for long periods.
• Familiarity with safety procedures and guidelines in a printing environment.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication skills and ability to work well with others.
• Willingness to learn new printing technologies and processes as they arise.
• Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and overtime as needed.
• Demonstrated commitment to quality and attention to detail.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $22.00-$25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 36 - 40 per week
