Job Description
A full-time Principal is required by Na Aksa Gyilakyoo School effective November 3, 2025. Interested applicants who are a member or who are eligible to become a member of the Teacher Regulation Branch are invited to apply.
Na Aska Gyilakyoo is located on Kitsumkalum reserve within 15 km of Terrace, BC. Our school includes Kindergarten to grade 12 and currently serves 88 students. Tsimshian language and culture is a strong component of school environment along with a dedicated focus to literacy and numeracy. A dedicated staff and respectful student body are evidenced in the continuous growth and achievement.
Principal Responsibilities
+Leadership
: Oversee day-to-day operations, establish vision and mission, provide leadership and mentorship +Curriculum and Administration
: Manage curriculum, scheduling, and emergency operations+
Community Engagement
: Build relationships with parents, teachers, staff, students, and community members+
Student Support
: Assess educational and cultural needs, Paticipate in creating individual educational plans, support behavioral needs+
Teacher Evaluation
: Evaluate teacher performance based on various metricsQualifications and Experience
+Education
: Minimum Bachelor of education + BC Teaching Certification+
Experience
: At least 5 years of teaching experience, curriculum development, pedagogy, or administration+ Experience in a First Nation school or First Nation education programs
+ Demonstrated level of personal, professional and organizational integrity and skilled in project management
+
Skills
: Cross-cultural communication, leadership, teamwork, understanding of First Nations culture and historyProfessional Attitude and Conduct
+Cultural Sensitivity
: Understanding and empathy towards First Nations culture and values +Interpersonal Skills
