We are currently looking for a Canadian based Industrial Water Treatment Technology Leader to join our Advisian team. This is a full-time role with opportunity to support projects across North America and globally, with focus on our Canadian Energy, Chemicals and Resources (ECR) Clients.

You will help grow the Canadian and North American Industrial Water Treatment business and drive collaboration and integration with our environmental, services and technology colleagues to define, plan, design and execute, permit and address our customers\xe2\x80\x99 toughest and most ambitious water-related challenges in Canada and around the world.
You will help us bring innovative new water services, technologies and commercial strategies to address next generation needs of our industrial Clients. By helping us continue to deliver effective, value creating technical solutions, you will help us forge customer relationships to generate follow-on and repeat work. You will help us forge alliances with industry partners that enhance the value we deliver to customers, and you will help us tell our story to customers, communities and industry through thought leadership, social media, and business development. We want you to be a key resource for industrial water treatment supporting our ECR Clients.
Leadership Role within Water (approximate 10% workload): We will want you to provide thought leadership in innovative water treatment for various market sectors with particular focus on helping our Energy, Chemical and Resources clients succeed in their sustainability and energy transformation goals. We want you to support efforts to advance our understanding and response to industry needs and to build Advisian and Worley\xe2\x80\x99s brand position. This time would be spent continuing your active participation in key organizations, participating in targeted meetings and conferences, and meeting directly with other \xe2\x80\x9cnon-client\xe2\x80\x9d network of regulators, policymakers, academics and other interested parties, including vendors.
Success Factors
As a consultant, success depends on having an entrepreneurial spirit and quickly developing one\xe2\x80\x99s internal network. Below are some of the deliverables in the first 3 months.
First 0 to 1 Months
1. Review the current FY23 strategy for NAM water and incorporate into an Eastern plan
2. Develop a plan / business case to build the Water business in Eastern Canada

  • Target accounts, opportunities, resources to target, potential rev, etc. \xe2\x80\x93 1 yr, 5 yr
  • Sectors to focus \xe2\x80\x93 Mining, Food & Beverage, etc.

3. Develop an integration plan / integrate with the NAM water team and the rest of Worley
4. Be a part of guiding Worley strategic direction to support the Eastern Water and NAM growth
5. Continue personal industry engagement and brand development
6. Support proposals and closing game efforts for opportunities.
7. Support projects as senior technical consultant, contributing SME, lead investigator or client-facing project/study manager \xe2\x80\x93 local, NAM and Global, where applicable
First 1 to 3 Months
1. Continue engaging in the activities defined in the first 0 to 1 months. Start to deliver on the plan
2. Help develop and implement an ongoing market engagement strategy (i.e., how/where can we provide thought leadership at conferences, workshops, in articles, in industry organization, etc. to build our expertise, reputation and brand?)
3. Support staff hiring and mentoring
4. Support projects as senior technical consultant, contributing SME, lead investigator or client-facing project/study manager - local, NAM and Global, where applicable


Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities :


Senior Technical Consultant and Subject Matter Expert (approximate 80% workload): You will serve as a key global resource for water treatment to win and deliver water treatment related projects. You will be supporting various market sectors, with particular focus on Mining as well as projects in the Energy Transition and other markets when support is needed that fits your expertise.
  • Roles may include technical lead roles for treatability studies, pilot studies, water/ wastewater sampling and analysis, wastewater treatment alternatives evaluation, regulatory permitting, and pollution prevention evaluations.
  • Help us build a strong, water team in the Ontario region.
  • Lead and or contribute to developing new business opportunities from conceptual phase work through EPC. Experience developing concession design build operate, design build finance operate is a plus.
  • Understand the customer\'s needs and how the project relates to other elements of the client\'s organization and to other projects. Develop the scope of the project accordingly
  • Work with other business lines across Worley, to develop and deliver water scope on projects, across all stages of the project.
  • Identify resources required and lead a water treatment technical team to successfully deliver the water treatment scope on the project.
  • Participate in achieving a safety and environmental sustainability targets in line with Worley\xe2\x80\x99s SEAL (Safe and Sustainable Engineering for Asset Lifecycle) System.



Your role in winning work will be to guide and support business development (BD), market and project delivery staff to network to industry professionals and organizations, recognizing client needs and developing differentiating technological offerings in response, and committing those concepts to written proposals and client presentations.
For many of the projects won, you will be a key player in providing technical leadership on those projects, typically serving as the Water Senior Technical Consultant (STC), responsible for maintaining relationships with the client\xe2\x80\x99s technical teams, maintaining a common vision with the client\xe2\x80\x99s teams for the end deliverables and helping us position for follow-on and repeat work.




Experience and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor\'s degree in Chemical, Environmental or Civil Engineering or related engineering or science discipline
  • Licensed Professional (PE, P.Eng. or PG)
  • At least 20 years of experience in consulting and detail design process engineering, business development, and project management, of water and wastewater management and treatment for the industrial water industry.
  • Strong team facilitation and client relationship building skills with proven capability to lead teams, mentor staff and teach developing engineers
  • Understanding of business principles for selling and delivering consulting and design projects and related project delivery tools and metrics
  • 10 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience writing and communicating complex technical reports, proposals, and presentations
  • Proven experience working with project managers to deliver successful projects to our clients
  • Ability to travel across North America and worldwide.



Preferred Qualifications:

  • Direct operations or industrial water treatment technology applications engineering experience is a plus.
  • PhD or Master\xe2\x80\x99s in Chemical Engineering or related discipline is desirable, but not required
  • Business development and project delivery of industrial water and wastewater management and treatment solutions
  • Location flexible
  • Other language skills are a plus
  • Experience in mine water management planning, permitting, design and execution in Ontario is plus.
  • Experience in mine tailings and waste management planning, permitting, design and execution. Slurry and dry-stack tailings applications experience is a plus.
  • Experience with pit lake and pit water management is a plus.
  • Experience in design and preparing engineering deliverables for procurement and construction is a plus.
  • Experience In engineering design in a data-centric (i.e., "smart") delivery environment is a plus.
