Mulgrave, the International School of Vancouver, seeks an inspirational Senior School Principal for August 2024. Mulgrave is a gender inclusive, secular IB World School. Position Summary:

The Principal of the Senior School is responsible for the strategic development and day-to-day operation of the Senior School, and ensures the ongoing development of the IB programmes and philosophy within the framework of the school\xe2\x80\x99s mission, vision and values. Working closely with the Deputy Head of School (DHoS) and the other members of the Educational Leadership team, the Principal will provide vision and inspiration to promote the highest quality of teaching, learning and holistic educational experiences.

All Grade 10 students follow the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (MYP), and most students pursue the IB Diploma Programme (DP) in Grades 11 & 12, although an increasing number of students each year opt for an \xe2\x80\x98Enriched Pathway\xe2\x80\x99 to graduation that involves customising their programmes with selected IB and BC Provincial courses, allowing students to focus on commitments in the arts, athletics, or other interests.

The Principal is supported by an experienced and cohesive Senior School Leadership Team that includes two Vice-Principals (one of whom serves as IB DP Coordinator) and an Enriched Pathways Coordinator. The Principal leads a faculty of approximately 35, and is responsible for a student body of over 280 students in Grades 10 to 12.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Articulate and communicate a compelling vision for holistic education in Grades 10-12
  • Develop and sustain a culture of student-centred learning that reflects the school\xe2\x80\x99s guiding statements as well as current research
  • Promote an ethic of care and ensure the highest quality of student support and pastoral care systems
  • Lead and supervise the Senior School faculty and staff, including their professional growth and development
  • Ensure that Senior School students have meaningful voice in Senior School issues and that student leadership is continually fostered and refined
  • As a key member of the School Leadership Team, implement the School\xe2\x80\x99s strategic plans, policies and procedures
  • Establish and maintain positive and constructive partnerships with families
  • Use multiple data sources to monitor and improve student progress and attainment in Grades 10-12, and embed a data-informed culture throughout the Senior School
  • Work with the University and Careers team to continuously refine approaches to post-secondary counselling
  • Work with the Learning Strategies team and with the Personal Counsellor to continuously refine the academic and social emotional support provided to Senior School students
  • Oversee the Senior School calendar including all Senior School events and functions
  • Be responsible for the admission of new Senior School students, in collaboration with the Admissions Department
  • Monitor the annual Senior School budget, in collaboration with the CFO and Deputy Head of School
  • In partnership with the Deputy Head of School, oversee the recruitment of Senior School staff
  • Establish and maintain partnership programmes with external providers, including continuing to lead the Blended Learning IB partnership with other ISABC schools
  • Maintain a small teaching responsibility, based on interest and experience
In addition to the above there will be opportunities for the post holder to further develop their skills and experience in other areas of school life, to support their professional and career development.

This post is a key senior leadership position in the school and as such the post holder is a full member of the Educational Leadership Team (ELT) and shares in the responsibility for the leadership and management of the whole school at a strategic and at an operational level.

  • Have an eye for detail as well as being able to see the big picture

  • Have excellent analytical, data interpretation and administrative skills
  • Be committed to an enriched programme that includes co-curricular, service, athletics, arts, and outdoor education
Required Qualifications:
  • Must be a Canadian resident and legally entitled to work in Canada (Citizen, PR, or in possession of a valid work permit)
  • Must meet or be willing to obtain all requirements to be certified to teach in British Columbia
  • At least 3 years of successful experience in a significant school leadership position
  • Experience teaching and/or leading in a school offering the IB DP and/or MYP

The salary range for this position will be $120,000 to $140,000 based on skills and experience. In addition, there is the possibility of a goal related leadership bonus currently set at $12,500 for the successful candidate. This position will also include health & dental benefits, generous RRSP contributions and relocation assistance.. The final salary offer will be determined based on the candidate\'s qualifications, and relevant experience in accordance with BC labour laws and company policies.
