Equinox Gold is seeking to appoint a Principal Mining Engineer to complement the company\xe2\x80\x99s technical services team. This position will report to the Director, Mine Engineering and will be based in our Vancouver corporate office. T he role will primarily be to support the Director, Mine Engineering in the technical services team and offers the potential to develop rapidly as a professional.

Your mine planning and operational expertise will be applied to a range of studies and operational challenges across our seven operating mine sites in the USA, Mexico and Brazil and our upcoming new mine in Canada.

Having been exposed to industry best practices, you will utilize the latest software to undertake mine design and mine scheduling, data analytics and value identification, equipment modelling and cost estimation, mine optimization and trade-off studies, and deliver on continuous improvement initiatives. This work may be done in collaboration with our mine site technical teams in English, Spanish and/or Portuguese.

The ideal candidate will have a combination of engineering proficiency and operational experience in hard rock open pit mines, and experience in underground mines would be an asset. The candidate must demonstrate an ability to successfully communicate with key stakeholders through reports and presentations, delivering sound and respected professional advice. Strong software skills and a willingness to travel (estimated up to 30% of the time) to support the various mine site teams will be a key asset.

Specialist Skills Required: Experience in open pit mines, with strong capability in mine planning and operational functions, especially drilling and blasting. Experience in underground mines is an asset. Experienced user of mining software packages, such as Deswik, Minesight, and Minemax. Experience in a range of commodities, and preferably in gold. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with a variety of stakeholders including senior management, technical professionals and operational personnel. Able to contribute expertise to feasibility studies and NI 43-101 technical reports. Ability to work independently.

Qualifications: Qualified Mining Engineer or other related mining discipline. Ideally 10-15 years of experience in the industry working as a mining engineer in both technical and operational roles. Fluent in English \xe2\x80\x93 spoken and written. Portuguese and/or Spanish language skills are an asset. Membership of an industry recognized professional organization.
