About Potash

In 2021, BHP approved a CA$7.5 billion investment in Jansen Stage 1 in Saskatchewan, Canada, which is aligned with their strategy of growing exposure to future facing commodities in world-class assets. Potash opens a new front for growth and is an expandable resource that can support a century or more of operations. Potash provides BHP with greater diversification by commodity, country, and customer.

Purpose

Reporting to the Superintendent Cloud & Infrastructure Potash, the Principal Hybrid Cloud Engineer Potash will be responsible for designing, deploying, and continuously optimizing hybrid cloud platforms and solutions for the Potash project. This role will work closely with the Potash project teams and operational teams to assist with the Stage 1 and Stage 2 infrastructure designs, implementation, and ongoing operational support once live.

Work Location

Downtown, Saskatoon office. 40 hours per week. Hybrid working (flexible, shared workstations and a combination of office and work from home) is standard for BHP.

About the Role

• Provides support with the installation and configuration of infrastructure components for projects
• Guides, assists, and co-ordinates technology parties with the technical aspects of project solutions
• Provides specialist advisory on BHP infrastructure standards, governance frameworks, and emerging technologies.
• Develops and selects effective design solutions, works with relevant vendors/stakeholders to procure products, and provides design expertise to inform selection
• Defines and manages functional and non-functional requirements that consider business expectations for the system and operational concepts
• Analyzes a variety of cyber security information and tests existing security controls to advise on mitigation and preventative measures for cyber risks/threats.
• Identifies, engages, and manages a range of diverse internal and external stakeholders
• Defines value drivers and determines the boundaries of an opportunity to determine if it is worth further investment

About You

• Experience with IT infrastructure lifecycle planning and management across various technologies
• Experience or knowledge of hosting technologies such as WMware vSphere, Cisco UCS, and NetApp storage
• Experience or knowledge of Azure and or AWS cloud platforms and services
• Demonstrated capability managing and/or operating deployments of a related Technology Field (e.g. Application, Hosting, Networking) at enterprise scale
• Demonstrated experience with DevOps practices and agile ways of working
• Experience with tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Gitlab, GitHub, or similar
• Experience with delivering infrastructure as code deployments in an API-driven, microservices fashion
• Not afraid to "roll up the sleeves" and seeks to go outside comfort zone to learn - pushes teams to do the same
• Happy to work in a highly distributed, cross region, cross cultural and cross time zone teams
• A real desire for active learning and continuous improvement with regards to emerging Cloud Services
