Base Metals Headquarters

Our corporate office, located in downtown Toronto serves as the headquarters for the global Base Metals business, providing support to all our Base Metals operations. In Mississauga, you\xe2\x80\x99ll find Vale\xe2\x80\x99s Base Metals Technology Development team; a group of highly trained engineers and scientists working to improve Vale\xe2\x80\x99s competitive edge and support its growth strategies by coming up with safer and more environmentally responsible technology.

The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Principal, Asset Engineer-Static Equipment to join our Chief Technical Office in Toronto. This is a permanent position.

The Asset Engineer, Static Equipment is responsible for ensuring integrity, reliability, and safe operation of static equipment within the business. This role will focus on the governance, compliance, and technical aspects related to the life cycle management (design, installation, operation, maintenance & decommissioning) of static equipment, such as pressure vessels, heat exchangers, storage tanks, and piping systems.

Additionally, this individual will play a crucial role in assessing equipment condition, identifying potential risks, and recommending mitigation measures to ensure compliance with internal standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.

As a Principal, Asset Engineer you will:

• Develop and administer technical & governance standards for Life Cycle management of Fixed Assets (Vessels, Piping, Tanks etc.) across all Energy Transition Metals facilities.
• As part of second line of defense, provide assurance that fixed asset strategy is deployed and achieves business objectives. This is done through collaboration with operations, checks and audits.
• Provide oversight to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, industry codes, and internal standards for the management of static equipment.
• Administer a process for projects reviews, to assure that as part of operations readiness, reliability-based maintenance strategies & required spares are in place as part of equipment handed over.
• Review and analyze inspection reports, and equipment history to assess the condition of static equipment to identify & drive resolution of potential risks or integrity concerns.
• Support incident investigations and root cause analyses related to static equipment failures or non-compliance incidents and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Evaluate market for technological advancements that can add value to the Asset Management function and support implementation across the business. Include technology for fixed asset inspection test and monitoring.
• Maintain a consolidated asset risk register by region. Support risk mitigation by working closely with regional teams.

About You

Education:

• P.Eng Required
• Undergraduate degree
• MBA preferred.

Experience:

• A minimum of 15 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in a similar discipline

Skills:

• API 653, API 570, API 571
• ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Codes
• ASME Piping Codes
• Understanding of regulatory requirements and Industry best practice associated with static equipment integrity management
