The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Principal Engineer, Static Equipment to join our Corporate Asset Integrity team in Toronto. This is a permanent position.

As a Principal Engineer, Static Equipment, you will be responsible for ensuring integrity, reliability, and safe operation of static equipment within the business. As part of the 2nd Line of Defense, this role will focus on governance, compliance, and technical aspects related to the life cycle management (design, installation, operation, maintenance & decommissioning) of static equipment, including pressure vessels, heat exchangers, storage tanks, and piping systems. The engineer develops & supports implementation of equipment standards in accordance with industry standards and regulatory requirements. Will also drive implementation of new technology to ensure optimization of equipment integrity management. Additionally, they will play a

crucial role in assessing equipment condition, identifying potential risks, and recommending mitigation measures to ensure compliance with internal standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.

Additionally, in this position you will:

  • Develop and administer technical & governance standards for Life Cycle management of Fixed Assets (Vessels, Piping,
  • Tanks etc.) across all Energy Transition Metals facilities
  • As part of second line of defense, provide assurance that fixed asset strategy is deployed and achieves business
  • objectives. This is done through collaboration with operations, checks and audits.
  • Provide oversight to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, industry codes, and internal standards for the management of static equipment.
  • Administer a process for projects reviews, to assure that as part of operations readiness, reliability based maintenance strategies & required spares are in place as part of equipment handed over.
  • Review and analyze inspection reports, and equipment history to assess the condition of static equipment to identify & drive resolution of potential risks or integrity concerns.
  • Support incident investigations and root cause analyses related to static equipment failures or non-compliance incidents, and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence
  • Evaluate market for technological advancements that can add value to the Asset Management function and support implementation across the business. Include technology for fixed asset inspection, test and monitoring.
  • Maintain a consolidated asset risk register by region. Support risk mitigation by working closely with regional teams.
About You

Education:
  • Undergraduate degree required, preferably in Mechanical or Materials Engineering
  • Required certification in P. Eng
  • Required certification in API 510, API 570, or NB
  • API 653 or API 571 certifications would be an asset
Experience:
  • 10+ years working in Inspection or Integrity Management for pressure equipment and storage tanks.
Skills:
  • Understanding of regulatory requirements and industry best practices associated with static equipment integrity management
  • Understanding of ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Codes
  • Understanding of ASME Piping Codes
  • Strong communication skills and development of concise documents and presentation materials.
  • Solid understanding of the Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with Excel.
  • Forward-thinking creativity a plus \xe2\x80\x93 not only use proven standard methodologies, but also promote new insights and processes to improve equipment efficiency
