About the Job

The Simulation Group within AVEVA\'s Engineering practice is responsible for the worldwide delivery and support of operator training simulation technology and other relative. The primary application product is Dynsim which is a comprehensive, dynamic process simulator that enables users to meet and beat the dynamic challenges of designing, commissioning, controlling, and operating a modern process plant safely, reliably, and profitably.

This position is responsible to deliver simulation solutions mainly to our Oil & Gas industry customers, but also to users in metal and mining and power industries. The engineer will work as part of larger project teams and complete assignments to deliver the final solution to meet the needs of the customer. This work will include design documentation, implementation, testing, customer training and site commissioning.

Responsibilities:

Undertake modeling of assigned process areas

Configuration and data entry to meet the required model

Create steady-state and dynamic simulation models using AVEVA software. Modeling consistent with the modeling guidelines and functional specification, comply with quality requirements

Testing of the model implemented prior to integration with other models\xe2\x80\x93documentation of models developed

Perform thermodynamic analyses and design calculations and reconciles data to these analyses.

Integration with DCS/ESD systems. Emulation of PLC or other logic systems

Conduct pre-MVT, pre-FAT and pre-SAT. Participate in MVT, FAT and SAT

Contribute or provide required engineering documents (FDS, Detailed Design, Test Procedures, Administration Manuals)

Assist the lead engineer in designing/implementing assigned portion of simulation systems and executes the engineering.

Monitor performance against the project schedule.

Provide timely inputs to the project lead concerning changes in schedule.

Wider duties as assigned by the Technical Lead (hardware testing, reports, client, etc.)

May need to travel to customer sites for project deliveries

Required Qualifications:

Minimum of a bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field.

Minimum 8 years\xe2\x80\x99 progressive experience in a related chemical engineering position that includes process simulations, process design, process operations or an equivalent technical role

Experience must include knowledge and use of steady state and/or dynamic simulation software.

Exposure to process engineering, refinery processes, Operator Training Simulator systems is a plus.

Ability to read and understand P&IDs, PFDs Cause and Effect diagrams.

Basic understanding of Thermodynamics, Heat transfer, Reactors and reaction kinetics modeling.

Basic understanding of DCS/PLC architecture with respect to process plant operations

Understanding/Experience in DCS based concepts related to PID Algorithms, Sequence Control Logics and Control Strategy configuration/implementation and troubleshooting with Foxboro I/A and other DCS vendor products is a Plus

Experience with Operating manuals, Control Logic, SIS functionality, Shutdown Keys and Startup/Shutdown procedures is a plus

Strong organizational skills, able to manage diverse workload

Clear and concise oral and written communication skills
