Halpern Akiva Academy is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Principal to lead and oversee the delivery of the General Studies curriculum in alignment with Alberta Education Standards. The role of the Principal is to provide strategic direction, monitor and support student achievement, encourage parent involvement, as well as hire, mentor and evaluate General Studies staff. The Principal will work closely in partnership with the Head of Judaic Studies to successfully deliver the school's vision.

Key Responsibilities
Oversee General Studies curriculum to comply with and meet Alberta Education standards.
Responsible for hiring and managing General Studies teachers as well as hiring and managing support staff in collaboration with the Head of Judaic Studies.
Lead, supervise and mentor General Studies staff; conduct regular performance reviews and determine professional development needs.
Supervise the assessment and advancement of students.
Evaluate and ensure that requirements of special needs children are met within established policies, where possible.
Collaborate and work directly and closely with the Head of Judaic Studies in educational and non-educational management activities, including organizing field trips and school-wide events.
Create policies and procedures to ensure transparency and accountability.
Work with the Head of Judaic Studies to ensure the standards of professional practice are in place and achieved.
Work with the Board of Directors and Head of Judaic Studies to develop and steward annual budgets.
May be required to teach up to 0.5 FTE.
Qualifications
Must hold a permanent Alberta Leadership Certificate (temporary certification will be considered if working towards permanent certificate).
Certified Alberta Education teacher.
Proficient in Alberta Education annual reporting requirements.
