The Middlesex London Ontario Health Team (MLOHT) is seeking a dynamic and motivated individual to join our team as a Primary Care Recruiter. In this role, you will play a key part in recruiting and on-boarding primary care physicians. Partnering with: London Economic Development Corporation (LEDC), London Health Sciences Centre (LHSC), St. Joseph's Healthcare London (SJHC), Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry, Middlesex London Primary Care Network (MLPCN) and others committed to primary care recruitment and retention.


Position Overview:




The Primary Care Recruiter will play a pivotal role in improving access to primary care services in the Middlesex London area. As a member of the Middlesex London OHT Operations Team, this individual will work closely with a dedicated team of local healthcare providers and organizations to implement effective initiatives to attract and onboard local primary care providers to our community.


The Recruiter is responsible for the planning, implementation, and oversight of all primary care recruitment initiatives for the Middlesex London OHT. They will utilize excellent interpersonal skills to maintain professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders including funding partners, primary care providers, local healthcare organizations, governmental bodies, and regulatory bodies. This individual will travel to and actively participate in primary care recruitment events. Dealing with competing priorities and strict deadlines, this role requires an individual who displays effective organizational and time management abilities.


Key Responsibilities




Administration/Management:


Collaborate with the Middlesex London Primary Care Network (MLPCN), Middlesex London OHT (MLOHT) Operations Team (including but not limited to the MLOHT Practice Facilitation Team) to develop and implement a comprehensive recruitment plan to attract qualified physicians and healthcare professionals that meet the local community needs. Build and maintain professional relationships with providers, local healthcare organizations, funders, recruitment roles in other areas, business developers, landlords, governmental bodies, and regulatory bodies to ensure successful program implementation. Monitor/track the Primary Care Recruitment budget. Develop and report on outlined Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

Physician Recruitment


Recruit primary care providers, with an initial focus on Family Physicians. Source candidates through various channels including job boards, social media and networking events, and close collaboration with provincial and regional partners (Ontario Health (OH) Health Workforce, Ontario Physicians Recruitment Alliance (OPRA)). Support locum management. Assist providers with immigration pathways. Support development and implementation of marketing material and tactiles to promote the Middlesex London area as an attractive location for primary care professionals, in collaboration with the MLOHT Communications staff. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records (in the MLOHT Partner Management Database or like software). Build and maintain relationships and partner with community partners, medical schools, and regulatory bodies to optimize recruitment and onboarding in Middlesex London. Work collaboratively with regulatory bodies, government agencies, and other local OHTs to support the recruitment and integration of international medical graduates (IMGs) into Middlesex London and other local OHTs. Promote the Middlesex London area at recruitment conferences and events. Engage with primary care providers at all stages of their career to maximize potential for them to practice in Middlesex London (e.g., with Family Medicine residents as they prepare to move to the next stage of their career). Seek out opportunities to work with other local OHTs and recruitment leads to optimize primary care recruitment efforts for our region. Advocate for health equity and accessibility to primary care services for all residents; consider equitable distribution of providers across neighborhoods, including underserved communities, while planning and implementing the program. In partnership with the MLOHT Practice Facilitation Team, strengthen onboarding for new primary care providers. Support new physicians to settle into the Middlesex London community (e.g., connections with a realtor, share information about local schools, community centres, etc.). Support Primary Care Access and Attachment work of the MLOHT, including partnership with Health Care Connect. Participate on MLOHT's Primary Care Innovation Action Team and support alignment with MLOHT initiatives.

Qualifications and Experience




Bachelor's degree in Health Management, Human Resources, health-related discipline, or a related field. Proven experience in recruitment, preferably in the healthcare industry, with a focus on primary care providers preferred. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. Knowledge of the healthcare system in Ontario, the structure of primary care, medical practice issues, recruitment programs and/or physician licensing and education is considered a strong asset. Overall knowledge of the educational, recreational, and healthcare resources available in Middlesex London to assist providers with moving to the Middlesex London area is desired. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain trusting relationships with candidates and providers. Proficiency in data analysis and reporting, with a keen eye for detail (preferred). Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality. Demonstrated ability to communicate professionally and follow through on promises. Passion for health equity and a commitment to building a strong foundation of equitable access to primary care in Middlesex London.

Salary: $38.27-$51.28 per hour (dependent on years of experience)


This is a hybrid role, combining both in-office and remote work, with occasional travel required throughout the region/province as needed.
