Position Summary

Northern Health is looking for an experienced, highly efficient, and self-directed Assistant to support the Primary Care department.



In accordance with established mission, vision, values, and strategic priorities of Northern Health, and under the general supervision of Manager or designate this position supports Specialized Services clinics by performing duties such as maintaining inventories of medical/surgical supplies, biologicals and equipment, cleaning and sterilizing equipment and instruments, and performing related administrative support duties.

Ksyen Regional Hospital

The new Ksyen Regional Hospital welcomed its first patients on November 24, 2024. More than double the size of the previous hospital, the facility features 82 beds, private rooms, and is a centre for trauma services, orthopedic surgeries, pathology, radiology, clinical support, and pharmacy services. The hospital is also a training site for medical students in the Northern Medical Program.

Terrace

The thriving community of Terrace is northern living at its best. Snow-capped mountains, pristine glacier-fed rivers, lakes and streams all add to the beauty of this community. The main industries in Terrace are communications, transportation and natural resources. The population is approximately 12,700. There are nine elementary schools, four secondary schools, and Northwest Community College and a UNBC campus. Check out Terrace where there is always something new to experience.

Qualifications

Grade 12 Medical Office Assistant Certificate Recent, related experience of one year or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience or other qualifications deemed to be reasonable and relevant to the level of work.

Skills and Abilities:

Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position. Ability to work independently and in cooperation with others. Ability to operate related equipment. Ability to organize and prioritize. Ability to type 45 wpm. Knowledge of general office procedures. Ability to work with clients with varying complex need. Ability to establish and maintain rapport with clients. Knowledge of medical terminology. Knowledge of medical equipment. Knowledge of sterilization techniques and procedures. Valid Class 5 BC Driver's License.
