MLTC Child & Family Services Department is seeking highly motivated individuals to fill full-time, term positions of Prevention Workers. The successful candidates will work as part of the MLTC CFS in ensuring effective prevention services are implemented and provided to children and their families of the nine (9) MLFN communities. These individuals will be sensitive, compassionate and professional in all areas relating to the CFS Program needs, issues and concerns and will apply a holistic approach to individual, family, and community healing and development. Positions are available at both the Main Office in Meadow Lake/Flying Dust and at the Buffalo Narrows Sub Office.

DUTIES: (Include, but not limited to)



Work with, support, and assist local service providers to achieve the prevention goals. Will gather training materials and develop/maintain a CFS Prevention resource library. Will maintain accurate program data and collect prevention statistical information. Will coordinate training sessions with other MLTC programs. Follow protocol as mandated by Child and Family Services Act and abide by Family Centered Manual and Children's Services Manual. Work collaboratively with Child Protection staff in planning for families. Support, participate in, and provide leadership and advocacy in community planning processes (Inter-agency) regarding the ongoing development of service to children and families. QUALIFICATIONS



Minimum:

Grade 12 with a combination of relevant training and work experience may be considered. One (1) to two (2) years of experience working with children, families, communities.
Preferred:

Bachelor's Degree in Social Work or Bachelor of Arts Degree majoring in Native Science or other relevant discipline. Three (3) or more years of experience working with children, families, communities.
Other:

Be knowledgeable in child/community development and be able to formulate/document family assessments, case plans, program plans, etc. Be knowledgeable in the dynamics of child abuse/neglect, family violence, addictions, poverty, and oppression. Must have excellent interpersonal skills and communication (written/verbal) skills. Intermediate to advanced computer skills, i.e., demonstrated proficiency in computer applications (i.e., AIS and/or RedMane Database; Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.). Must demonstrate a high level of professionalism, integrity, and personal wellness. Must be willing to work flexible hours with extensive travel involved. The ability to speak and understand Cree and/or Dene is a definite asset.
