Prevention Programs Manager
to oversee the delivery of culturally relevant and community-centered prevention services within Pictou Landing First Nation. This role reports to the Director of Health and will be expected to collaborate across all Band departments to implement a comprehensive Prevention Program.
About the Role:
As the
Prevention Programs Manager
, you will lead the development and implementation of prevention services designed to promote family wellness, prevent harm, and ensure the safety and well-being of children and youth in Pictou Landing First Nation. You will manage a dedicated team of professionals, ensure the effective use of prevention funding, and work collaboratively with community leaders, Band departments, families, and partner organizations.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and oversee the delivery of primary, secondary, and tertiary prevention programs.
Supervise, support, and train prevention staff, including performance management, annual work planning and development.
Build strong relationships with Pictou Landing First Nation leadership, families, and external partners.
Ensure programs align with cultural values and traditional practices.
Monitor, evaluate, and report on program effectiveness.
What You Bring:
A Bachelor's degree/diploma in Health & Human Services, Management, Social Work, Indigenous Studies, Public Health, or a related field (Master's an asset).
At least 5 years of experience in program management, child welfare, or prevention services, with ideally at least 2 years in a leadership role.
Strong knowledge of Pictou Landing First Nation's culture, community needs, and child welfare practices.
Proven ability to manage teams, budgets, and programs in a community-driven and culturally sensitive manner.
Cultural awareness, understanding and/or training, Mi'kmaq speaker an asset.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Demonstrated abilities in program development, strategic planning, work planning and community engagement activities.
