What qualifications are we looking for?
At YMCA Calgary we strive to ensure our employees are a fit based on their strengths, interests, and future goals. The successful candidate will have the following;
\xc2\xb7 Post-secondary degree or related training in a child related field;
o Alberta Early Childhood Educator Certification is an asset;
\xc2\xb7 Minimum of two years supervisory experience, including the ability to coach and develop an effective staff and volunteer team;
\xc2\xb7 Experience working with young children developing and providing play-based learning experiences;
\xc2\xb7 Clear communicator with excellent verbal and written skills;
\xc2\xb7 Intermediate computer literacy and competency;
\xc2\xb7 Current Standard First Aid and CPR C certification (CPR recertified within the last 12 months);
\xc2\xb7 Evidence of a clear Police Information ChecTk including a Vulnerable Sector Search;
\xc2\xb7 Three professional references required.
What does this role look like at YMCA Calgary?
Reporting to the Early Years- Centre Manager, the Preschool Supervisor provides operational leadership and support for preschool programs and services within the Saddletowne YMCA, located in the Genesis Recreation Facility in NE Calgary.
As part of a Health, Fitness, and Aquatics Branch (HFA), this position will also be responsible for Duty Manager shifts on a regular basis, supporting operations and coordinating health and safety responses in the event of an emergency.
This position is full-time and will work 40 hours/week. Flexibility of the successful applicant\'s personal schedule is required to ensure area needs are met. Some evening and weekend work may be required to meet area needs and training requirements.
The Preschool Supervisor will:
\xc2\xb7 Utilize an active and engaged approach with the planning and delivery of programs for young children which supports their social and self-regulation skill development, personal care needs and the achievement of developmental milestones. This includes during active play and scheduled swim time;
\xc2\xb7 Develop and evaluate the preschool using available assessment tools and metrics;
\xc2\xb7 Ensure all administration systems are in place and are adhered to as set by YMCA Calgary;
\xc2\xb7 Order and purchase required program supplies & equipment;
\xc2\xb7 Maintain health and safety measures including child safety & protection standards, health management and the provision of a safe and clean environment;
\xc2\xb7 Hire, supervise, train, and conduct performance evaluations for preschool staff and volunteers;
\xc2\xb7 Effectively communicate in a variety of settings and with all stakeholders;
\xc2\xb7 Ensure excellent quality member service by identifying member/participant needs and wants as a priority and responding in an effective, timely manner;
\xc2\xb7 Hold a senior role on YMCA Calgary\'s Integrated Leadership team (ILT);
\xc2\xb7 Provide leadership support for daycamps during school break periods;
\xc2\xb7 Take an active role in ILT, branch and association events, and initiatives. This includes the YMCA Annual Fundraising Campaign.
