Job Description

We are looking for an ECE with at least one year of experience and a passion for working with children ages 3 - 6 years old, to work in our daycare program (8:45am - 2:45 pm) which features preschool programming.

For an additional 1 - 2 hours per day, this position also has the option of covering morning care for the School Age program, working with the kindergarten children and walking them to school.

Our summer hours are different, and can start as early as 7:00am or as late as 12 noon.

QUALIFICATIONS / ATTRIBUTES:

ECE certificate
First Aid
Willingness to submit to a Criminal Record Check
Excellent references from parents of children who have been in a program you have taught
Good communication skills
Desire and ability to communicate with parents regarding the progress of their children
Vision for the curriculum you would like to cover
Optional: Ability to purchase the supplies required for the sessions, and transport them back to the facility (supplies costs are reimbursed). When enough notice is given, our supplies coordinator will purchase items and ensure they are at the facility. If last minute needs are identified, it is helpful if you can purchase them yourself and be reimbursed.
Experience supervising and coordinating with other staff, and creating a team atmosphere. There will be assistants, volunteers, and teachers for specific activities, who will sometimes be in the room.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

You will work with the other ECEs to plan and implement developmentally appropriate experiences for our preschool children. This will include planning the curriculum themes, posting the children's art work, decorating the bulletin board, leading the children in the planned activities and supervising them during free play (both indoor and outdoor), cleanup and sterilization of the facility, assisting the children with toileting and dressing, cleaning up should they have a toileting accident, supporting them in their social emotional learning (which includes how to share and how to interact with other children), general behaviour guidance, and other tasks normally included in daycare and preschool environments.

You will report to the program supervisors or facility manager, who will assist with methods to deal with child guidance and escalating situations with children and families.

Pay: $20.00-$28.00 per hour
