Job Description


We are seeking a Pre-Sales Specialist to work in our Toronto office. The Pre-Sales Specialist works closely with the Business Development team members on new sales opportunities for our Order and Portfolio Management Software, AlphaDesk. You will provide in-person and/or remote software demonstrations to prospective clients, typically Hedge Funds and other Asset Managers. Additionally, you will be responsible for the pre-sales discovery process which involves capturing technical requirements, documenting existing workflows, solving complex workflow issues, and providing guidance on new/improved workflows that can be achieved by using our technology.

Role Responsibilities

  • Provide software demonstrations of our Order and Portfolio Management System, AlphaDesk, to various stakeholders (Portfolio Managers, Traders, Operations staff, CFO, etc.). Provide recommendations on how to improve the sales and demonstration process
  • Complete pre-sales discovery process capturing detailed technical and workflow requirements, ensuring that the work required falls within the budget and scope of the implementation
  • Respond to RFIs and RFPs
  • Act as a technical resource to the sales team, and in some cases to the implementation teams
  • Identify any client requirements not met by the software, and recommend to management what steps are necessary to address any gaps and whether to proceed with the sale
  • Develop knowledge of various Refinitiv products to improve sales success.
  • Interface with the Product Management team providing feedback for any complex workflow issues discovered in the sales process that may require development
  • Interface with the Implementation team providing guidance on software implementations ensuring smooth delivery
  • Build strong relationships and become a trusted point of contact for our clients
Qualifications and Experience Required
  • 3+ years working in a related role or field (solution engineering, technical sales, Implementation specialist)
  • Strong understanding of buy side workflows for portfolio management, trading/settlement, reconciliation, accounting, and reporting
  • Working knowledge of Order and Portfolio Management Systems
  • Excellent presentation skills (verbal & written)
  • Detail oriented and creative problem solver
  • SQL knowledge
  • Ability to handle and prioritise multiple tasks and work independently
  • Undergraduate degree in related field
