THE ROLE:




As a Prepress Supervisor, this individual will oversee all prepress operations, ensuring accurate and timely preparation of digital files for print production. This role involves supervising Prepress staff, managing workflow schedules, maintaining quality standards, and ensuring all artwork meets printing specifications before production.


This role works Monday to Friday on day shift (8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.).

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:



Plan, organize, and oversee all aspects of prepress production; quality check all jobs against specifications to ensure accuracy and timeliness. Manage team of Prepress employees (training, providing guidance, scheduling, performance reviews, corrective actions, monitoring time and attendance, etc.) Train new hires and ensure all team members are properly oriented and cross-trained to perform various roles without errors. Oversee plate preparation and review job quality daily, make decisions on reruns based on quality standards and customer expectations, and complete non-conformance reports to minimize downtime and rework. Track inventory and order ink, supplies, and service requests to ensure continuous production. Perform routine maintenance, troubleshoot equipment issues, and contact the press call center when breakdowns occur. Adjust employee schedules, including assigning overtime or cancelling shifts on short notice, to meet production demands. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of lithographic, offset printing processes, and ESKO workflows and automation tools, ensuring to identify continuous improvement opportunities and implementing solutions

SKILLS & EXPERIENCES:



Bachelor's degree in Graphic Communications Management or related field, with 5+ years of Prepress experience in lithographic and offset printing Previous team leadership experience, mentoring or supervising more junior team members Proficient with industry-standard prepress software (ESKO, Adobe Creative Suite, InDesign, Acrobat, etc.). Strong knowledge of print file formats (PDF, TIFF, EPS, etc.), color management and print production techniques. Experience with pre-flighting, trapping, imposition, and file preparation, including using a RIP (Raster Image Processor) software and file preparation for various print technologies. Excellent attention to detail and ability to troubleshoot complex prepress and print issues. Strong understanding of color theory, proofing processes, and achieving color consistency across different press types. Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously under tight deadlines. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with other teams and clients. General math skills.
