Position: Prepared Foods Specialist

Reporting to the Director of Prepared Foods. This position is responsible for creating and supporting merchandising solutions and presentation standards that meet or exceed our brand expectations for quality and visual impact for fresh, prepared and retail food products. They will work closely with all retail locations in communicating and executing each department\'s vision. This position is also responsible for assisting in the development of new and current products within a category. He/she collaborates with the category management team to create sales opportunities through market principles with relation to sku rationalization, merchandising presentation and market specific opportunities.

What you\'ll do:

  • Coach and mentor Department Managers and team members, either one-on-one or supports in organizes workshops.
  • Provides feedback to the Store Manager on execution of initiatives that gets incorporated into coaching discussions and performance appraisals.
  • Provides feedback to the merchandising team at the Support Center
  • Coaches Department Managers and team members to follow all organizational Operational Standards, Health and Food Safety Policies.
  • Coaches and ensures Department Managers and team members are following the standards pertaining to department POGs, SOPs, SPPs, Category Tactics and Meal Plans.
  • Oversee the implementation of Department initiatives including merchandising strategies, promotions, events, advertising, flyers and corresponding changes of information, etc.
  • Provide store walk feedback to Directors of Merchandising, Operations & Store Management on execution.
  • Supports in development and updating all SOP\'s and SPP\'s for department and ensures that they are current, relevant and reviewed to include best practices.
  • Review sales, shrink and margins opportunities with Department Managers, to assess required action plan.
  • Required to perform monthly visits with Department Managers and/or Store Management to review store walk results.
  • Supports in the coordination of set up teams and POG execution for new stores and renovations.
  • Collaborates with Category Management in development on all current & new initiatives as a Subject Matter Expert from an operational perspective.
  • Consults and informs category manager of market, store specific opportunities.
  • Collaborates with C.I. team to ensure best practices are adapted and refined in preferred methods, par levels and order guides.
  • Coach, mentor and share best practices to achieve department CTO
  • Talent Management & Development Support
  • Supports and mentors candidates in training programs through period check in and providing relevant feedback
  • Coaches and supports In-store Training Department Manager during the various leadership training programs to ensure the programs\' success
What we are looking for:
  • Post-secondary education
  • 5 - 7 years of experience working in the Grocery/Food Retail ideally in a variety of departments
  • A minimum of 3 years in a management capacity with full understanding of the departments operations including P&L responsibilities and people leadership
  • Knowledge of Employment Standards, WHIMIS, Food Safety and Loss Prevention practises
  • Understand the calculation of sales and margins; product mix; merchandising techniques; consumers behaviours
  • Strong Computer skills - Excel, word, power point, internal systems
Work Environment:
  • Work is performed in both the stores and the office environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and changing priorities with regular deadlines
  • Travel amongst the stores, warehouse and office required on a regular basis.
