Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated
Prep Supervisor
to lead our prep team in ensuring all materials, tools, and equipment are accurately prepared and ready for use in the production department. This hands-on role involves supervising the prep team, coordinating schedules, maintaining safety standards, and supporting the smooth operation of our greenhouse production flow.
What You'll Do:
Lead and supervise the prep team by assigning daily tasks and supporting their work to meet production goals
Organize, label, and stage production materials such as pots, tags, and UPCs in advance to keep production running smoothly
Prepare and maintain tools and equipment, ensuring everything is available and in good working order before production starts
Inspect prep work regularly to confirm accuracy, completeness, and quality standards are met
Track inventory levels of prep materials and supplies, and promptly report shortages or discrepancies to the Production Manager
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area by promoting and enforcing workplace safety protocols and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
Provide hands-on training and ongoing support to new and existing prep team members to build skills and efficiency
Communicate clearly and regularly with the Production Manager and other departments to coordinate schedules and address any issues
Adapt to changing production demands and offer support in other production areas when necessary, especially during peak or high-volume periods
Be prepared to work flexible hours, including extended shifts during busy seasons, to ensure production targets are met
What You Bring:
Experience in greenhouse, production, or manufacturing environments
Strong leadership and communication skills
Ability to work well independently and as part of a team
Comfortable in a fast-paced, humid greenhouse setting
Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs and be on your feet
CSA-approved steel toe shoes required
Basic computer skills; inventory experience is a plus
Spanish language skills are an asset
High school diploma or equivalent (post-secondary education is a bonus)
Flexibility for extended hours during peak seasons
