Beijing West is a Chinese-Canadian restaurant known for our fresh, flavourful Hong Kong-style dishes, noodles, and stir-fries. We are looking for an experienced
Wok Chef
to join our kitchen team and help deliver authentic, high-quality meals to our guests.
Responsibilities:
Prepare and cook a variety of Chinese and Hong Kong-style dishes using a wok.
Maintain consistency, flavour, and presentation standards.
Work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
Ensure all food is prepared safely and meets health standards.
Assist with kitchen prep, cleaning, and inventory as needed.
Collaborate with the kitchen team to maintain a smooth workflow during service.
Qualifications:
Minimum 1 year of experience as a wok chef or cook in a Chinese or Asian restaurant.
Strong wok-handling and stir-fry skills.
Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple orders at once.
Knowledge of Chinese sauces, seasonings, and cooking techniques.
Food Handler Certification required.
Understanding Chinese is an asset, but not required
Schedule:
Part-time during slow seasons (Late September - November, Late January - March), Full-time during late spring, summer and early fall
Evenings, weekends and holidays required
Compensation:
$23 an hour, plus staff meals.
