We are excited to be recruiting for a dedicated Prep Cook at our amazing property, the Norwood Hotel. Shifts will primarily be evenings and weekends, but open/flexible availability is required.



The Norwood Hotel has always been an innovative leader in the hotel industry. The Norwood Hotel has an interesting and diverse history dating back to the latter part of the 1800's. The earliest records available indicate a photograph of the hotel in 1895. In 1937, the Hotel came under the ownership of the late Merle Sparrow and has been operated by the Sparrow family ever since. This longevity in ownership makes the Norwood the oldest operated family hotel in Manitoba and one, if not the oldest in all of Western Canada.

Job Overview


We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Prep Cook to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food and a commitment to providing high-quality meal preparation. As a Prep Cook, you will play a vital role in supporting the kitchen staff by ensuring that all ingredients are prepped and ready for cooking, contributing to the overall success of our food service operations.

Responsibilities



Prepare and chop ingredients according to recipes and menu specifications. Assist in menu planning and food preparation for daily service. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area, adhering to food safety standards. Handle food safely, ensuring proper storage and labeling of all items. Collaborate with chefs and kitchen staff to ensure timely meal preparation. Participate in catering events as needed, assisting with meal setup and serving. Follow all health and safety regulations in the kitchen environment. Utilize knife skills effectively for efficient food preparation.

Skills



At least 1 year of direct Kitchen experience in a fast-paced environment Strong background in food preparation, cooking, and food service within the food industry. Knowledge of food handling practices and food safety regulations. Experience in restaurant or catering environments is a plus. Excellent knife skills and ability to work efficiently under pressure. Strong teamwork abilities with good communication skills in a fast-paced kitchen setting.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $16.25-$16.75 per hour
