Compensation: $21.53/hour; benefits after 3 months of employment

About the Role

The Prince George Council of Seniors (PGCOS) is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Prep Cook to join our PGCOS Meals on Wheels kitchen team. This role supports the preparation and packaging of nutritious, home-style meals for delivery to seniors in our community. The Prep Cook will assist the Lead Cook with meal preparation, portioning, kitchen organization, and maintaining food safety standards to ensure high-quality service to our clients.

Key Responsibilities

Meal Preparation: Assist with daily meal prep, including washing, chopping, portioning, and assembling ingredients for cooking. Cooking Support: Support the Lead Cook with meal production and packaging for the Meals on Wheels program. Food Safety & Cleanliness: Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations and equipment, following all food safety and sanitation standards. Inventory Support: Help monitor and rotate food stock to ensure freshness and minimize waste. Team Collaboration: Work cooperatively with the Lead Cook, kitchen volunteers, and delivery staff to ensure efficient kitchen operations. Other Duties: Assist with dishwashing, labeling, and storage of meals as required.
Qualifications

Experience: Previous experience in a commercial kitchen or food service environment preferred. Skills: Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management. Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. Food Safety: Food Safe Level 1 certification (or willingness to obtain). Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 25 lbs.
Working Hours & Compensation

Hours: Up to 25 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Wage: $21.53 per hour. Workplace: Meals on Wheels Kitchen, Prince George Council of Seniors.
