We are seeking motivated and experienced Prep Cooks and Line Cooks to join our team at Lotus Kitchen & Bar - Noodle Waroom, located in downtown Halifax. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a modern Asian fusion kitchen with a fast-paced and supportive work environment.
Responsibilities
Prepare ingredients by washing, chopping, measuring, and portioning food items according to recipes.
Operate kitchen equipment including fryers, burners, and woks with confidence and precision.
Assist in menu preparation and ensure consistent quality and presentation of dishes.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen work areas, including proper food storage.
Follow food safety guidelines and health regulations at all times.
Collaborate with chefs and fellow kitchen staff to support efficient service.
Utilize strong knife skills and proper cooking techniques during food preparation.
Assist with inventory management by monitoring stock and reporting shortages.
Adapt quickly to changes and contribute to catering or special events as needed.
Skills & Qualifications
Previous experience as a Prep Cook or Line Cook in a busy restaurant environment.
Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques, wok/fryer/burner operation, and culinary practices.
Familiarity with food handling standards and food safety regulations.
Excellent knife skills and attention to detail in food presentation.
Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining high-quality standards.
Flexible, reliable, and responsible with a strong sense of teamwork.
Experience in Asian cuisine or catering services is an asset.
Requirements
Valid Food Handler Certificate
Previous kitchen experience required (Asian cuisine experience is an asset)
Strong knowledge of food preparation, wok/fryer/burner operation, and culinary practices
Excellent knife skills and attention to detail in food presentation
Reliable, responsible, and able to take direction
Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment
Strong teamwork and communication skills
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 24 months
Pay: $16.10-$20.18 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
