Position:

Pre-Engineered Steel Erector - with Iron Worker Experience

Rotation: 17

/11 10-hour shift 3 - 4 month contract

Location: FORAN -- McILVENNA BAY MINE PROJECT - Saskatoon -

Travel to and from the site provided by the company. This project site is a dormitory-style camp complex - Accommodation and meals are provided.

General Description:



Steel erectors will assemble and install pre-engineered metal buildings and steel components including overhead cranes, mezzanines, staircases, handrails, etc. They work on a variety of jobs, large and small, including office developments, factory units, sports stadiums, and heavy industrial projects across Canada.

Duties and Responsibilities:



General Steelwork and Structural Assembly



Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.

Plan and fit steelwork together based on engineer-designed plans.

Lift and guide components into position using tower or hydraulic cranes.

Hoist steel components and attach cables/slings using levels, transits, or laser equipment.

Line up and level steelwork before securing it in place through bolting or welding methods.

Erect hoisting equipment and install rigging.

Safety and Compliance



Follow all safety requirements as outlined by the company and project site.

Report any unsafe working conditions to the foreman immediately.

Work Platforms and Heights



Work from mobile elevated work platforms (MEWPs) such as cherry pickers or scissor lifts.

Perform tasks at heights beyond the reach of MEWPs while on the structure.

Cladding and Insulation



Install fiberglass insulation and metal cladding on walls and roofs of structures.

Install air and vapor barriers.

Perform roof and wall cladding retro-fit assemblies.

Install, repair, or replace standing seam and screw-fastened metal roofs.

Install pre-insulated metal foam panel systems.

Install sheet metal flashings, sub girts, flashing, and caulking.

Install primers to prepare surfaces.

General Tasks



Follow directions from the Site Supervisor.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:



Minimum of one to three years experience as an Iron Worker Ability to follow engineering instructions and plans accurately Able to work at heights Physically fit to work outdoors in all weather conditions Able to work in a team environment High awareness of health and safety practices Able to understand and follow instructions Working at Heights training and Elevated Work Platform tickets are required Forklift Operator ticket is considered an asset Valid class G driver's license with own vehicle is preferred

Good head for heights and sense of balance

High level of practical skills

Journeyman (preferred)

Fall Protection

AWP

WHMIS
