Preclinical Laboratory Assistant (N-2402)Main FunctionsReporting to the Preclinical Laboratory Manager, the Preclinical Laboratory Assistant will support the LHS research program by aiding in day-to-day activities of the lab.

  • Assisting in running of mammalian cell line model related assays including adhesion assays, inflammation studies, permeability assays.
  • Various techniques manipulating various bacteria strains including platting, aseptic techniques, working in a BSC, growing of bacteria culture, etc.
  • Manipulating a number of mammalian cell lines, preparing their media and weekly maintenance.
  • Working with Flow Cytometry to quantify mammalian and bacteria cells, viability staining, and protein marker quantification.
  • Molecular biology related techniques such as qPCR, RT-PCR and 16s sequencing.
  • Participate in maintaining the inventory of the bacterial culture collection using the electronic inventory system.
  • Assist in developing and implementing of standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment and records to ensure optimal performance.
  • Maintain laboratory inventory of samples using an electronic inventory system.
  • Maintain detailed and updated electronic laboratory notebook.
  • Communicate scientific results through internal reports, posters, and presentations.
  • Perform various laboratory activities to support the laboratory manager and pre-clinical research team.
  • Any other related projects and tasks.

  • Possess a Bachelor\'s degree or a college diploma in life science; Microbiology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, or related field
  • Possess a minimum of 1 years of experience in a similar position
  • Familiar with molecular biology and microbiology techniques
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, in French and English
  • Proficient computer skills (Microsoft 365, LIMS)
