Purpose:

The Pre-Apprentice Autobody Technician role is an entry-level position in the Autobody Technician trade. This position assists Journeyperson Technicians at the Key Collision Centre in restoring damaged motor vehicle body parts and repainting body surfaces.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Assist Technicians when needed. Follow safety guidelines and wear personal protective equipment. Check vehicles in for repair. Complete stone chip repair on windshields and glass replacements. Perform general housekeeping tasks such as maintaining shop equipment, cleaning and decluttering work areas, and keeping customer vehicles as clean as possible during repair process to retain a satisfied customer image (treat customers vehicles in a professional manner). Complete technician inspection checklist as well as quality control checklist for verification of a quality repair. Pre and post scans on vehicles when required. Pick up and drop off customer vehicles from outside vendors and AutoHire Rent-a-Car. Uphold environmental regulations. Complete all assigned work according to factory or insurance standards. Maintain productive interdepartmental relations (Parts department/Service department). Report missing/broken tools or equipment to the Collision Centre Manager for replacement or further action.

Key Performance Indicators:

Pre-Apprentice Autobody Technicians are expected to meet key performance indicators related to safety, quality control and shop cleanliness.

Working Conditions:

A considerable amount of the workday will be spent on foot. A reasonable level of physical fitness is beneficial. Fast-paced environment. Working indoors and outdoors. Mild exposure to noise (hearing protection is provided). * Mild exposure to dust and chemicals.
