Powerline Technician

Job Description

Brightline Engineering is recruiting for a Powerline Technician to join our crews in

the United States. The Powerline Technician will perform skilled work in the

maintenance of electric transmission and distribution systems within the United

States. The employee in this position is responsible for exercising judgment as to

the details of assigned work within prescribed operating procedures. The

Powerline Technician is responsible for maintenance of power lines, electrical

equipment, and transformers and all other work assigned by our clients in the

United States. Work is performed according to departmental procedures,

practices, and safety regulations.

Education and Experience:

(Combination of education, training, and experience

will be considered) High school diploma or equivalent and college technical

training in electrical or powerline fields is an asset. Minimum of two years of

experience with a construction crew on electrical distribution or transmission.

Four years in an approved apprentice program is an asset.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:



Operates bucket or derrick truck, puller tensioner, air compressor, puller and other equipment.
Thorough knowledge of primary circuits, load consumption, metering ratios, electrical hookups, safety procedures, and all types of transformer banks.
Thorough knowledge of circuits, circuit breakers, and switches.
Understands the use of tools of the trade: phasing sticks, phase rotation, meggers, etc.
Use and care of hot line tools and rubber goods.
Installs and maintains overhead and underground feeders as well as replace poles, cross arms, lightening arrestors, insulators and fused disconnects and switches.
Assisting with reviewing existing electrical infrastructure to ensure it meets design and compliance requirements.
Build and troubleshoot three phase transformer banks and three phase pad mount transformers.
Ability to lead and assist groundmen and apprentices in a safe manner.
Learns and performs first aid and CPR as required.
Complete safety training as required.
Maintain Agency/City vehicles, equipment, and tools in good working condition.
Works as an effective team leader/member, working cooperatively with
others and contributing to agency overall work and member experience.
Ability to work under general supervision and make responsible decisions.
Ability to use good judgment and think quickly and rationally in difficult or stressful situations.
Attend any additional trainings and/or certifications required by supervisor.
Other duties as assigned.



Pay:

Pay will be dependent upon qualifications and experience. Overtime and

emergency call-outs required.

Citizenship Requirement:

Employee must have either Canadian or US citizenship

for work visa requirements and be able to enter the United States.

Job Type:

Full-time

Willingness to travel:

Employee will be required to travel to the United States for

2-3 week shifts. Travel, accommodations and food will be covered.
